i just recently had my exhaust set-up redone from factory to 4-1 pacesetter header, 2 1/4 magnaflow cat, 28in thrush glasspack, and 2 1/4 pipe out the back just past the bumper. i didnt bother putting a muffler back on. now, thats where my problem is. i cant get my car inspected 'cause i dont have the muffler. i was told that if it came equipped with one, then it has to be on there. just courious if this is really true or are they bs ing me?
those SRT-4's dont have mufflers. and they pass inspection. then again they come that way from the factory

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Sounds like to me your not going to beat this one, they are not going to bend their rules because if they are caught they face heavy fines and losing their licenses. I say just have a super turbo dynomax muffler on and it will pass easy!

Sounds like the truth to me... I'm in Virginia and I couldnt even get my exhaust shop to weld up my system even after I installed the header. He said they would get hit with a $10,000 fine if they touched anything behind the cat, so, I cant say I blame him. Still though, get something welded on like Z24HO said and you shouldnt have any problems.
Wow yeah that is a problem. And you do have to have a muffler. The only advice i have to give is go find like a inspection place with mexicans that work there. HONESTLY im not tryin to be rude in anyway to anyone. But I live in Dallas and not mine or most of my friends cars pass inspection. The 2.2 four door i just got only has ungraded exhaust manifold and downpipe meaning its louder than god. But what i do is go to an inspection place thats like muffler, and tire shop and they do it for liek 80 bucks. But that makes me very lucky i dont know where you live so you mite not have that option.
Unless you are close to Walker, MO lol, because I know of a shop that does inspections. I took my car to him, he passed my car without even looking at it. And my horn didn't work, I had no cat, and at the time I found out later that I had a taillight out lol. $12.00 and he just wrote it up and gave me what I wanted.

i'm gonna go ahead and get a muffler put on but i want to go with dual tips. can anyone tell me wtb an inlet/dual outlet muffler and what would be best with my setup:
4-1 pacesetter header, 2 1/4 magnaflow cat, 28in thrush glasspack, and 2 1/4 piping
If you really dont want to keep a muffler on there, just clamp one on to get the inspection done;or weld it and cut it back off, just any kind of cheap muffler or whatever.
Honestly Id just get something like a dynomax st, which imo would sound much better anyways and still keep you outta trouble.
