maybe its just me but i think the junk yards are tryin to screw me over. they want to charge me $650 for a motor thats already pulled and they dont have any still in cars so i dont know. what where you guys charged for your ecotecs?
ive wanted to do an ecotec swap for a while but im startin to think it will be easier redoing my engine i have a stock 2000 sunfire with the 2200 and an auto but i deffintly am switching that to a 5spd and i thought abought just getting a turbo and call it good what do you guys think?

What's wrong with $650 for an eco? That's what I got mine for, then again that included 250 s/h, but still they're not offering a bad price imo.

I think your just a cheap ass if you think $650 is too much for a motor...especially one like the Ecotec that junkyards know is in demand.

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

well you got 3 choices

1) buy the ecotec, build it up, swap it in, blah blah etc

or

2)dont buy the ecotec. build up a weaksauce motor, and get half the performance and power out of the 2200 as you would the ecotec

or

3)buy a car that already has an ecotec

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

i was quoted $550 for my engine but ended up paying $500 cash when I picked it up (I also bought the transmission from the same place for $400 all in cash)

junkyards like cash

anywhere from $400-$800 is a good price for an eco from a junkyard

as long as it runs, who cares what it costs? the brand new ones go for $2500 or more

its money that is worth spending.. you will NOT regret it. believe me... I swapped from the OHV and have never ever looked back

I can get them for $400 too. I've called areas that wanted $625 MINIMUM though. All depends where you are.

Yeah that was mine you saw. The shop that did it for me is wanting to see if there's any other interest out there, so they posted it on ebay. But yeah, to timothy...if you want to go for a built engine like that it wouldn't be a bad deal. If not, the one you found is still a pretty good deal.

Try public insurance auctions, I picked up a "complete" write-off for $550 CDN. I might actually make a profit after all extra parts are sold off.
