Which pulley you recommend
Sunday, February 11, 2007 1:02 PM
Im trying to decided which pulley is good and dont cause to many problem to the eletrical system. Other then the car basic electical stuff and 4 neons under the car, a/c , basic led kit under the car, a indash tv radio, and a small 200 watt amp. I was looking the rsm stock size light weight pulley for a while but now rsm scite is down. I wouldnt mind a undersize pulley but alot of ppl told me its not worth it on a daily drive so tell me what you guys think? And for you guys who have diffrent pulleys, I would like to hear you guys feed back. If you need to see what I have my car profile is up to date if it helps.

Get a pulley off ebay. I have had underdrive pulley's on all my z's and never any problems with electrical. Heck my 01 Z I have never bought a battery for yet.

I use an Unorthodox Racing udp on my 99 Z24. I get no adverse charging effects at all, my battery is a 7 year old Duralast that I bought back in June of 2000, even on -5 degree Iowa mornings it cranks up everytime no problem.

Thats cool, did you have to get a smaller belt? But Im looking around and i see them for 2200 and z24s. But im woking with a ecotec and im not having luck. Only thing i see is the rksport pulley.

Don't worry about a smaller pulley. Most underdrive pulleys are just lighter. The stock pulley is a solid 10 pounds or so, with the aluminum pulleys being only a couple pounds. That is where the horsepower increase is mostly derived from. Any ebay pulley is probably okay, I have had several of them on several different cars and they all were ok.

My cars radio resets with the rk sport one, and man if i don't drive it for a day in the -5 degree weather, it won't start, but in the summertime not one prob

I am not using anything out of stock, minus 6x9's, The radio resests if i let the car sit for more then 20 hours or so, and only when it is cold out, a good alternative would be for me to take it off durin the winter, but hell im not to worried about it.

^ lol

I've had the old cav connections under drive kit and I ran into no problems with my 2 interior neons, and various audio set-ups I've gone through. I do however have a yellow top, and my stereo's have consisted of a Hiphonix BDX-1000 run at 750 rms to two Infinity kappa 12's and I also had an old Pioneer GX-102 for my front speakers.

Now I'm just running a 4 channel kicker amp and components up front with a 10 in the trunk. Keep in mind the cav-connections kit is under driven as well. I had no problems with the battery dying and my headlights didn't dim at idle. If you were to get anything though just get a light weight stock sized pulley as it will free up some rotational mass without you having to worry if your car is not charging properly.

That's really weird about your chargining issues @#%Fire. Have you had the alternator checked, or looked at your main grounds, seems like something else is wrong. I leave my car sit all weekend untouched without issue.

I have had no charging issues with my Unorthodox Racing pulley with my decent sized stereo system.

BTW, my UR pulley is for sale. I am going with a larger one with the SC

I would "might later", but I have enough headaches with the ECO and 2200 to keep me busy right now.

i say stay away from underdrive pulleys not worth the gains, i had an rksport on my 97 ohv and it killed the battery in like 2 weeks.

Has anyone tried the Quad 4 HO pulley? I have one and it seems a bit lighter and is definably smaller.

The HO pulley is lighter a little and a smaller diameter. It should fit on any 2.4 fine.
I do not have a concrete number for the ecotec pulley.

I do not make under driven pulleys.
I make lightweight stock sized pulleys, and I ain't got none right now.
