Well on Valentines of all nights my motor in my cav decided to take a @!#$ on me. Happy @!#$in Valentines Day to me. wow. anyhow back to the topic. turns out someone ALL the oil leaked out of the motor and now i have a knock. Does anybody know where i can get a Crank Kit for this ride for now. im at the drawing board getting planes on putting an LS1 in my cav so im not looking to spend much money.

Well your best option would be to buy a junkyard motor. If it ran out of oil, then you at the very least need to polish the crank (maybe turn it, or even replace it). The main bearings are around $100, new crank $145, gaskets etc..... time, machine work you could get a used with lower miles 2.4 and drop in for about $650-700.

Well i found out that at our shop we have the old 2.4 that came in it. has over 240K miles but im thinkin the crank is still good. and if it is then i can just swap the cranks. but that doesnt help with time. that process probably calls for 6 hours work in a dealership.

im hoping that i didnt bend a rod, even tho rods arent that expensive i think i have a friend that has a set of Eagle rods for my application. But getting new bearings is gonna be the hard part. The motor hasnt locked up, and the knock isnt that bad, but it is knocking and when it happend i was about ready to take a basball bat to the car.

I had to re build my ex wifes grand am with a 2.4, it spun a rod bearing at 127k.
We hot tanked the block, re-sized all the stock rods, polished the crank, new bearings, gaskets, oil, water pumps, head job, new clutch. We used the orginal piston's rod, cams, valves. This cost us $950 in parts, and the head work, and hot tanking of the block and we did the labor. You can pick up a used low miles motor for that or less.

new crank $145 what business?

Why not just buy a winter beater for 500 bones and just save up for the LS1 swap for the Cav?

If oil leaked out, you have a hole in the pan and if you have a hole in the pan, something broke up inside the engine. It's something to check.

Not necessarily... He could be burnin oil slowly and didnt check it so it ran out, or maybe the drain plug came loose... Double gasketed filter? A number of things could have caused the oil to run dry.

Not if the knock started THEN you noticed the oil light was on, then of corse the nock could be the bottom half of a connecting rod spinning around and smacking the block over and over again.... I love that sound, though it makes me feel strong mental pain.

hahah yo im goin on my 4th 2.4 right now then engines are junk...(all junkyard motors 2), the only way to work with these engines is to get the internals swapped and get some fat motor mounts....also the connecting rods are @!#$ on the stock 2.4

I agree. Go get a junkyard motor for now.

As an added benefit, you'll now have an extra engine lying around, so that would be nice to build up. Even though your old internals may be in trouble, well if you build an engine up you're replacing all those things with better parts anyways, so the condition of the engine is negligible(aside from a cracked block etc. But even a messed up bore can be remedied with an overbore). Then, your junkyard 2.4 only has to last you until your old engine is built.

I've never heard of this "part throttle" before. Does it just bolt on?

Learn to drive. The engine is not the problem. You are just too dumb to drive it like it's suppose to be driven.
