2.4 Headers
Thursday, February 15, 2007 6:48 AM
ive been looking around and ive noticed that there is finally a couple of companies that are finally getting around to making the headers for the 2.4 application. As Pacesetter, DC Sport, and there is possibly a few others. But i head about this new company that just finished their header for the 2.4 that with an intake guarantees a 20+ Horsepower increase. Does anybody know anything about this? if not what is the best headers that people know of so far?

I can't speak on other headers on how they feel, but I am happy with my RKS 4-2-1. Car does not feel straind any more and it changed the car's sound completely too.

There is no header that will give 20hp on a 2.4.

i liked my RK sport 4-2-1 style header... alot of people complained about how it leaked and all that but i just checked the bolts when i changed the oil and i think i only had to retighten them 1 more time and it never leaked on me again... i would suggest getting the main flange that bolts to the head, planed and made compleatly flat before putting it on it you do get this one... as i know might was just a slight bit out.... its now on my sisters cavy and she absolutly loves it as well...

so looks like 2 votes for the RK 4-2-1 style so far.. but no it wont give you 20hp a full header + header back exhaust i dont even think would give you 20hp... maybe 15..? at most, you must have been reading info from a head for a V8 engine or somthing cuz thats the only place i can think of that might make 20hp from a header(s)

I just installed a Pacesetter Coated header that i got from a member

Only problem i had with it was i dont have aftermarket mounts on my car so the bolts at the collector kept coming loose and causing leaks

So what i did was had a new Downpipe made with no springs on the bolts and added a Flex pipe just after the bend at the bottom of the downpipe

Works like a charm now

Just an idea, but what if someone design a 4-2 header and ran true duels on a 4 cylinder. Maybe it wouldn't work...

Unless you were running a twin turbo with a custom intake manifold that would feed air to the opposite 2 cylinders (I think that's right...and even then it is questionable)... I think the dual exhaust will have too low of velocity through the primaries and/or too much time between pulses to scavenge the exhaust well.

Bill's (Stan's Isuzu) is supposed to give 5-7 over RK Sport

Paul Tjepkes on this board has a Bill & Stans, he has pics of it on there somewhere in the Photo's and Media. It is pretty sweet looking. Unfortunately because of his massive amount of mods, he won't really be able to compare it to his old OBX one as far as performance increases go....

That may be true when compared to RKS' 4-1 design. But that test is old and when the test was conducted, the 4-2-1 design was not out yet.

That header has been around for about 7 years now, far from new....

RKSPort 4-2-1 have been great for me. Decent gain throughout the powerband, especially noticeable in the higher revs.
