I am looking for an engine stand for a motor I probably will be acquiring here VERY soon, and was wondering what engine stands you guys use?
I am thinking of getting
this stand from summit. It is pictured below.

Jegs has the EXACT same one as summit, so summit is closer.... so I figures summit here I come.
What stands do you guys / gals use?
Thanks

To me a engine stand is a engine stand. The one you pictured is a little more stable than the ones with 1 wheel up front, but they all do the job.
FU Tuning
yeah a 4 wheel is better , more so when you got a real heavy motor on the stand
but pretty much a stand is a stand is a stand , all work about the same , and will get the job done
If it's made of metal and has more than 2 wheels you're good to go..
if you're in a pinch, I've found this works pretty well too:
I use the one from advance auto parts.

Like John said, an engine stand is an engine stand. I used my ACDelco 4 wheel stand when I was messing with my 2.4 before I dropped it in.
For a 4 cylinder, any stand will do, I don't even think about it until I get an old all iron v8 on it. I was leary of having the big block from my dads old truck on it, but it held and I didn't get owned.
kflo , where did you get a ac delco stand ?
Ok maybe a dumb question but how much does a drained 2.4 with accessories weigh? I searched but didn't really find anything.
motor weight - 4 quarts of oil...done

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
haha! No I was just wondering cause I've never pulled one and I was wondering how managable it is with two guys before I commit to buying one and not be able to load it into a truck with my friends help. It's a ways away and this weekend is the only chance I have to get it or else it's gone.

it's possible, but will be difficult. They used 4 guys when they loaded mine onto my dad's truck
Hey pilz tahnks for the info. Exactly waht I was looking for!
I have a 4 wheeled Ac Delco one just like the one you posted and i spent about $60 on it at the local Lee auto parts
Yeah, sorry for my way late reply. I bought mine from the local O'rielly Auto Parts a couple of years ago. Before that I just sat engines on the floor with a low pro stiff sidewall tire and strategic blocks of wood.
I've pulled motors with a bar and chain, and used tires for stands. But, I upgraded to a 3-wheeled stand that my high school autoshop was throwing out because it was missing a wheel. I stole a wheel and bearings from my little brother's scooter and it's good to go
