I just want to know what people are running, why they chose those specific cams, if they like them, and what other mods they have to go along with it. If you have done a custom grind, what exactly did you go with and why? Thanks in advance guys.
im running the JBP stage 2 cams, i like them for the nice pull starting around 3000 rpm. yea they are a pain to live with as far as figuring out how to get rid of the codes but if you get HPT they would be great. i havent really heard of anyone using HPT with these cams but id like to find out what they could do with some good tuning. if you never let the car idle long youll never have to worry about the codes and they run just fine otherwise no issues at all

level zero motorsports triflow cams
I bought them so I can use them when I boost the car, and for the triflow feature
my car idles pretty nice, but I do get a CEL for multiple cylinder misfire once in a while.. but i'm not sure if its because the cams or not.
on the stock head (which didn't last long) power only started around 5k, but with the patriot performance stage 2 head the car pulls harder all the time, but it REALLY screams from 5k and higher. I'm shifting around 7300-7500rpm with a 7700rpm redline I have a 4-2-1 header and 3" exhaust
that brings up another point, so thank you, please tell whether or not you are using hpt. I would like to know any differences you had before and after. also, please let me know what motor you are running. i would like to hear mostly from the 2.4 guys, but i will take talk from everyone else as well.
Bigari- How long have you had the stage 2, didn't they change the design a little on those at some point. i could be wrong, but i thought they were different before.
i'm ecotec, i know the 2.4 has a few problems spinning rpm that high without some timing chain changes
hpt make a world of difference, even with just tuning the air/fuel ratio, you should see a nice performance increase
i know hpt will make a huge difference, i'm just looking at what types of differences it makes for the different cams that people are running, and just for learning sakes, i was curious on other motors. obviously i want to know about the 2.4 mostly, but am very interested in learning about the other engines.
I have the secret cams. I like them. I hope to replace them with HO cams in the upcoming months, though.
To work with the stock ECU though, they are a great, cheap mod.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
well if i could find someone in michigan area to help me with the install, i'd do a before and after dyno on the secret cams, i would just do it all in one day if i could. But i would also want someone with hpt so that way after the before and after dyno, i could tune it so that way i knew i was getting all i could out of them.
So if i have the stock ecu with no hpt is there going to be any problems with using any of the after market cams?

i got them at about 33000 miles and am at 115xxx miles now so roughly 82k miles on them now i got them back in 04 i believe and as far as i know they are the same now as then through JBP now level zero motorsports makes a stage 2 that theyve changed a little i think
i also have an Ecotec btw

Small cams
I'm running W41 HG2 cams (.430" 224°) and somebody that I know will be running .458" on the intake cam.

well until their is proof that the secret cams actually do something worth getting them, i'm still not sure if i want to get those. I would love to test them out if i could get a new pair of them for a decent cost, and i would also love to dyno them for everyone if someone was able to help with the install on that same day i was doing the before and after dyno. but if i can't work that out, then i might have to go with some other ones.
Smart thing ^^^^^^^^
I have the secret cams in my 01 Z24. I have posted this info before, but no one seems to believe me. I feel to get a real benefit from them you need ECU tuning. I'm planning to be running HPT real soon. Hopefully then I can increase some gains. My car with intake, TB, underdrive pulley, motor mounts, RKSport boots and springs, and cat-back exhaust It put down 138.9hp and 148tq. I added the secret cams, header and completed the exhaust, and tranny mounts and it put down 145whp. I did not get the tq numbers on this run. Your looking at 6whp for those added mods. I wuld expect more than 6whp from the cams (by them selves), and about 6whp for the header. I got it for both. The car was running pig rich (which could be some of the problem). This is why I think tuning is needed. Also since I did not get tq readings I could have gained good torque from them, which could be why the cams feel good. After some tuning with HPT I might swap back to stock cams.

i have the secret cams in my 2001 4 door along with CAI, header and exhaust, i pulled a 2001 Z24 by about a car lenght, 3 times, and I had a extra person in the car, he has a CAI, shfitplus, motor mounts, and exhaust, this was from a 60 roll, So for me the cams make a difference!
well is there anyone that can get a deal on the cams brand new? I can always find someone to help me with install, and if i have the cams and all the other parts, i can install them and see what the before and after dyno's are.
