Ok. so today i hooked my Autometer A/F ratio gauge up on my 96 2.2. i spliced in to the Computer side of things and when i started my car. my gauge would barely read and it would read lean. then the car started spitting and sputtering and would sit and misfire. i did a search wich didnt reveal a fix to this problem. the only thing i could think of is that i used a wire splice thingy (i know i know not a good idea but most likely the problem) with the gauge unhooked my car runs fine. and there has never been a problem. i have heard you could cut the wire. and but splice the Computer and gauge wire in one end and then the left over wire on the other. and then you heat shrink it. is this acceptable. thanks alot for your help guys. i really wanna get this gauge up and working.
I wired my air fuel guage to the purple (or purple w/black stripe) o2 sensor wire, and mine works just fine.
anybody PLEASE HELP!!!!!. i redid it today and put a new oxygen sensor in it and it did the same thing. will somebody PLEASE help with this.
I am not an expert, but... splicing into the O2 sensor wire isnt the best on the signal the computer recieves. If you splice the wire, that means half the signal goes to your gauge and half goes to the computer, causing your computer to conter react and try to correct the problem by changing fuel ratios because it would see it as way to lean? or maybe rich? Either way, thats what I see of the problem.

i put on of those wire clamp thingys(the one where you can hook two wires together with no cutting involved) to the purple wire of my o2 sensor and it worked just fine with no preblems. but yea like cheesy said if you cut it and splice it half goes to the guage and half to your computer which causes the computer to not read the full functionality of your o2 sensor
well. i hooked it up with the car running and it works fine now. so i dont know. kinda retarded but anyways. thanks guys
