I have a huge problem and need help. Right now it is freezing outside and I can not find the oil leak on my 2.4. There is a small leak from the back of the block, this makes no sense to me since there are few things which could leak. The leak is above the pan so that cant be it. The only thing I can think of is the dip stick??? It is leaking from the driver side of the engine in the back, please people help me!
Also I do not have a heated garage or garage so I am fighting snow and oil, NY Sucks.
Thanks
Chris

there is an oil passage on the back of the block, and it does have a plug screwed into it (cant remember exactly where) but i know there is at least one back there.
as for ur oil leak, im leaning twords the dip stick, i had mine chromed and it leaked like a frickn siv til i ground off the chrome on the section that goes into the block. after i did that it never leaked again.
the dipstick does have a tiny o-ring that goes into a grove in the lower section of the dipstick thats below the level where it goes into the block-that might be hard or broken and causing it to leak.
hope that helps ya man.
There is either one behind the metal coolant line that connects to the water pump housing, or behind the water pump itself. I believe there is also one towards the bottom of the block near where you are talking about.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
its nice to see some people kept my picture for future use
i believe the location labeled as water is actually a oil port
on what leaking and how fast its leaking , it can be the headgasket , cam tower gaskets , stock oil pressure port on the front tower
I can personally guarantee that passage marked 'water' is a coolant passage, as thats where my water temp sender is attached...
Thanks guys but like 5 mins after I made the post I found the problem and fixed it. It was the oil sending unit. I should have checked that first but I thought it was coming from the back of the engine. Got it all fixed up and the car is running good, thanks
