Well i finally got around to hooking up my wideband today after some of my friends got done using it, anyways I took the car for a test drive to see what numbers its going to show. At idle which is 900 it jumps between 14.5 and 16 but it only jumps to 16 every 2-3 seconds and drops right away which i think its normal, but now for the messed up part around 4k it reads 12.2 and right before redline it drops to 11.05. And I know that the sensore is good cuz my buddie brought his innovate wideband and it read the same. Its factory fuel setup with factory fpr. This is without nitrous Im scared to run my nitrous kit now because i don't want it to backfire and screw my engine up.
If anyone knows what it could be please let me know i just don't understand why its running so rich.
Its supposed to.
You ONLY want to be running 14.7 during cruise/low throttle, during acceleration and especially closer to redline, you want to be rich. This is called "Power Enrichment", and is exactly what is supposed to happen.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
ok I know its good that im running on rich side but isn't that kinda way to rich I mean 11.05 i could see it happening if i had fuel upgrades or something, I don't know its weired this is the first time that ive seen something like this. But thanks for the help
I don't have a wideband gauge but often times I smell a strong scent of unburnt fuel in my exhaust. That's been the same for 3 or 4 other 2.4's that I've come across..

I have to agree with shifted. sounds like everything is as it is supposed to be. I do not think that it is to rich, especially with it being near redline.
Yes GM runs our cars (and most of there cars rich from the factory). I do feel it is too rich, and to lean it out a little would gain some power. I know my 2001 Z is rish as well (close to yours). I plan to lean it out a little.

How can i fix this, and if i lean it out a little will it screw the anything up while i am at idle?
I am ordering adj fpr next tuesday so hopefully i'll be able to figure it out, man this sucks
^^^^Yes thats true but at the same time if it getts too rich there is a good chance of back firing, and to run nitrous they recomend that u stay in 12.5 range while spraying. Im running a wet kit so there is more fuel coming in with nitrous.
