Im looking for some input on the secret cams. what do you guys think. what kind of power does it add and is it worth it.

the cams cost nothing, its installing that hurts. shops here in Canada want around 400 to 580 to do the install

. NOT including gaskets... and other parts. I noticed a great high end gain past 3500 rpm. MIxed with a full exaust, + the Lo mani and 56mm tb it was a HUGE difference.

love them!!! get yourself a haynes or chiltons, the gaskets, and anything else you think you need i used the cam lube stuff, and the cams of course and do it
I didnt feel much.. same number at the track.... the only thing i felt was a weaker take off and a bit better top end (meaning 30 - 70) what the cams deduct from low rpm's it makes up in top end... but it comes out to be equal i think.. and our 2.4l's arnt known for good top end either , mine outshined alot of other 4 bangers off the line but that changed a bit now .
installing them is pretty simple if you have a jack, 2 jack stands, 10,13,15,18, 30mm sockets, pulley puller, 2ea. 3/8" aligning dowls, and about 4-5 hours. As far as gaskets go, you can reuse them, just make sure the engine is completely cold before you start the swap, and torque everything to spec with a torque wrench... and use loc-tite on the cam gear bolts.. pretty simple if you are willing to try it.

heres a better question, has anyone compared these to a set of aftermarket cams???
^^ no, no one has ever done a dyno before/after, or compairing these cams to others with identical setups... couple of peeople have tried setuping up a "donataion" based dyno run, but no one wants to helps... so doubtful it will ever happen.

The cams are almost identical to the JBP cams which dynoed 22 WHP or something.
My car has the cam swap, I am not a big fan, did not see a difference but that could be for a lot of reasons. I am having boost issues with my car so that could be it. As far as reliability they seem to be fine and a stock like idle.
Good luck with the install, it is time consuming just a lot of bolts, other than that it is okay install.

Indeed, but those three 17mm ones that connect that whole top motor mount assembly to the block are a pain to try and clear the body (with the motor still connected to the trans).

cams are well worth it...and while you have all that apart do ahead and put a new water pump on and a header if you havent already....makes life easier with everything all apart all ready.....and you could do it yourself not too hard just make sure to get a torque wrench and tighten everything down properly
thanks for the help ill make sure that i tell you'll how this went sometime during the summer when i do the rebuild

Put 'em in, took 'em out 3 months later in favour of stock. Running a custom grind now which i'm 90000x happier with.

Slowly but surely may some day win this race...
With my ported head and oversize valves, they ran f'n awesome considering what they cost me (nothing). And I did the work myself... so no labor either. I was doing the head anyway... so the gaskets didn't cost me extra. I did the water pump at the same time too... $30 or so for that...
I was happy with them... no codes... guaranteed reliability.
I feel that to make the cams work right tuning is required. I do not have beofre and after dyno's for just the cams, but I only gained 6whp on cams, header and full exhaust and tranny mounts. Note car was running pig rich and tuning would gain some power.

Hey guys just looking for some wisdom and some good opinions. I plan on doing this cam swap as well. I am also going with 40 over 10.5 -1 pistons, eagle rods. I plan on sending my balance shafts to jbp to get Neutral Balance Shafts. Do you think I should go with stronger springs for the cams? Or is stock ok? I also am looking into having the crank lightened but I was advised not to because it can cause balance issues. Any ways what do you think of this?
Stronger springs for what? A garunteed premature valve wear? You dont need stronger springs for these....not enough lift to warrant the downfalls of stiffer springs. Stock springs work just fine.
