Can I remove the knock sensor on a 94 2.2 L cavalier without causing any problems?
Thanks for any help.
Well.. I don't know specifically.. But I would think you would throw a code, and eliminate your computers ability to retard or advance the timing resulting in problems in the future.. But that's just my 2 cents.

Have you a death wish for your motor?
If you REALLY don't want to use it, you could either just cut off the leads or remove it and use a pipe plug for the hole.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
I am fairly new to these small engine cars, I have always had and worked on small and big block chevys, still do, but I needed something to get better gas mileage. Back to the knock sensor. I want to build this little engine up, and have already made a few upgrades on it. I have read and heard people talk about removing the knock sensor when they are building a high performance engine, because they say it can hurt the performance, and we are talking about NA engines here, no superchargers or turbos.
So, has anyone on here done this, and did it cause any problems??
FYI, I'm running 12:1 compression (275psi) and I'm using the knock sensor. Build the engine right, tune it right, use the appropriate fuel and you won't have to worry about the KS retarding timming. It's there to save your engine, not lower it's power.

That's what I needed to hear, I won't be building mine that wild, 10:1 compression and a few other upgrades.
Thanks for the information guys.
