MadJack wrote:Josh, Last year Comp released a new Beehive Spring with an installed hight of 1.700". The part number is 26981-16 (see the second page for specs.) If the top of the spring fits, we could very well have a new spring for the 2.2L OHVs. The 2200s could use them if they machine the seat 0.100". Here's the link to them from Summit Racing.Good find. Unfortunately, it won't clear the 2.2L valve stem seal (spring lower ID). It will clear the 2200 however, so this is definately their best option so far. I'll have to look through the rest of those at work.
Oh, BTW, Where'd you get the "3SPEED" smiley?
MadJack wrote: Either way you go you'll have to get some machine work done. Either machine the guide bosses and use the 2200s valve stem seals , or machine the seats down .090" to fit the LS springs. I'm seriously looking to do one or the other. It would cost less than getting the custom valves to fit the K-Motion springs and retainers (lock groove moved down .030"), the Manley locks and the seats for the oversized valves(might as well, since needing custom lock grooves) as it would cost just to get the +1mm valves and one of these sets of springs. As fpr the HP difference between the bigger valves and the +1mm valves is only a few ponies.I had a feeling you would be changing it up. I think I'm sticking to my Comp 26915 springs though for any 2.2L head build that may be in the future. 130# isn't that bad.
All that work to find a spring, lock and retainer set, just to change up to something else! Oh well, thats the way things go when paving new ground on a "odd ball" motor!
