Some of you know a couple weeks my timing jumped for some reason.. Here are the results of that.. I definately need about 11 new valves, but Im going to get 16 just to be safe..
Also pictures of the pistons as well, I gotta guy coming over tomorrow to check out them out in person to determine if I need new ones.. Me personally, I think unfortunately that I may need new pistons

But, I think my guy can polish them out because the scars are deep at all..
What are ya'lls are opinions?
This is right before taking the head out of the car
Turbo, mani and head came out all together
Valves

F'd up huh?

Wow that really sucks, I hope everything goes good for you and it all works out for the best.
In the planning stage for an all American TRD Cavalier.
Thanks man, Only 900 miles on this motor and this happens.. The head came RIGHT off the car without me yanking on it, or even scraping off my COMETIC headgasket.. It still looks soo new

Go Go OG Traction!!
god that sucks man, sorry to see that

been there, done that.... my valves werent THAT bent tho, wow... are they stainless's even? if not... take it from my experience, the new SS valves are cheaper then gm's stock ones
are ur pistons lower compression than stock? they sure look like it with that dish....
that poor ld9
Brad, nah my motor is fully built

Those are stainless stock size, my pistons are 9:1 CR.... Hope pistons are too bad

Those pictures look strangely familure from when I had some lifters basicly lock in the full up postion. I was getting good at pulling the head.
At least its only "small" things. Could be much worse. Hope you get it all sorted out and back on the road.
Ill send you a PM with what happened after 1000 miles of my turbo fun
Dang man,
And you were doing everything correct, and taking yourr time, and all the little things.
Hope it all works out bud.

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
everything i was afraid of was true....lemme know hhow things go man!
Eeeeesssh. Dang man. Hope everyhting turn out for the best for ya. Thanks for keeping us informed.
By the way, not to tread jack but how was your oil pressure w/ that JBP pump? Still very interested in the results!?
now DIE!
i just hope when the pistons slapped the valves it didnt ruin any bearings... make DAMN sure that when you get it all back up n running again that you keep that oil changed very often, and always have the filter cut open looking for metal shavings etc.
You should be fine, just clean the pistons up some. Those marks are hardly anything at all.
Good luck man.

Hey White Cavy a few questions, are your pistons forged, which cams are you running and what thickness Cometic gasket do you have, also did that damage happen while crusing or were you getting on it?
2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.

Yup, forged weisco pistons, and the the regular 'secret' intake and exhaust cams.. Also im running the N/A cometic headgaske .030.. Reason being is because my pistons are 9:1 and I need to drive the car before I actually installed the turbo kit.. That HG raised my compresson ratio just a tad.
Thanks for the luck guys, ill find out tomorrow what the plans are for these pistons

We polished these scars right now.. Smooth as a babies butt.. Big thanks to my boy Tank for hookin me up. All 4 pistons look like this, only took pics of 2 though
Monday, Im dropping the head off to the shop to get the valve seats checked, dipped and hot tanked, and the bronze valve guides checked out make sure they aren't cracked.
More pics later this week of the pretty head

Cool what thickness hg are you going to use this time because every engine buildup I've ever done or read about needs at least .040 between the piston & head do you think that could have contributed to the pistons & valves getting to know each other?
2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.
hit timing tensioner caused the pistons and valves to have relations.......
glad to see it buffed out
