Hi,
I have just installed a WAI / Short ram intake as they are called on my cavalier z24 2001. I was just wondering if I should remove the airbox (below the stock filter)? I am talking about the box that is right next to the battery. I kept it there for now because there seems to be quite a bit of things attached to it.
Is this a problem or should it just be removed so that it looks nice? Let me know please.
Also, how does it get removed exactly? I think I have to remove the battery first??
Thanks
yes, remove it and the bong. you'll need either take off your bumper, or you may be able to get at it if you take off the inner fender liner.the only thing really attached to it is the clutch master cyl. if you have a manual, otherwise, just yank on it a few times and it should come out.

I have a Cavi 2.2L 2000 I just pulled everything out it would be a bit cluttered to have the stock filter box in there too, pull everything out it shouldnt be a problem just keep all the remains for a few days just in case. make sure you got at least 2 good clamps so the new intake doesnt fall off.
got any Pictures of it???

why not leave that...this was outside air come up to the short ram
You would actually get more outside air into the engine bay if you removed it. The way it is shaped no air is going to flow through it unless it is being sucked in by engine. When I removed my bong I pulled the bumper off. I would highly recomend doing it this way. Doing it through the fender liner would be somewhere between tough and nearly impossible for someone doing it the first time.
By the way please fill out your profile. It will help us to help you. For example I have no idea if your car is an auto or 5spd. If your car is a manual trans you will need this silver peice that looks like a spool to hold the clutch fluid reservoir. You can see it on my car in the pic below.
