Benefits Mantapart vs HO springs and cams

The great debate again.

I'm in possesion of the Manta springs, so got that covered.

But since the H.O. deals are working out for folks, I'm wondering if I should just get in on those.
I can't find the post on the spring rates, but I think its 60 stock, 74 manta, 82 h.o.

Lil car info current set up: Auto, running the 200 @ .375 profile cams int/exh
The .410 lift exhaust cam is in storage waiting to go in 'potentially' if the gurus think it will be an ok fit with the car.

I have mounts and other stuff but its irrelavant for this post.
Also, after our buddy Whitecavy's, and the once NJHK turbo mishaps, NO boost.

So, what are your thoughts guys/gals?

Esp if anyone knows the specific spring rates, post em.

I suspect our friend Mfk-223 to chime in.

Thanks,
-M

Are all 086 heads considered 'H.O.'? They all should have the 80 spring rate? or is that just the W41 head?!?

...nononononoonono. you want to ask about HO spring rates not 086 head casting.... that head was avalable on LO motors also. 086 head DOSE NOT MEEN HO.

I'm using .410 cams, stock springs and reving to 7,600 rpm. You'll be fine with stock springs.

Do you mean stock LD9, LO, HO, or something else?

As best as I can tell though.. There aren't any differences between the HO, or LO springs according to RockAuto.com's Catalog Lookup Information In fact, that is the same spring that's used in the:

# 2.3L 138cid L4 MFI (3)
# 2.3L 138cid L4 MFI (D)
# 2.3L 140cid L4 MFI (A)

Is this true?

Thanks man, -Matt

I have the same springs on my ported cylinder head and HO cams. Tim @ Mantapart told me the 2.4 sports springs are fine with HO cams. One day they might see the engine

Hey Jason, so you have the same 2.3 springs in your ported head w/ HO cams? Do you know the spring rate of the 2.4 sports springs?

Thanks!

Ok, so Skilz, you're running the 2.4 head with stock springs but using the h.o. cam towers to house the .410 cams??
Or are you using the 086 complete head but are using the LD9 springs?
I checked your profile before I would ask and says nothing about so here I am, asking.

Thanks man.

No I do not have 2.3 springs. I have Mantapart's 2.4 Sports springs and valves on my ported 99-02 spec cylinder head.

I got these numbers years ago, but never verified that they are correct

HO valve springs
85 lbs seat pressure @ 1.437", 230 lbs pressure @ .430 valve lift.

95 spec 2.3L valve springs
79lbs closed and 207lbs open pressure

96-02 2.4L valve springs
55lbs closed and 133lbs open pressure

I'm using a 2.4 head, 2.4 springs, 2.3 HO cams, 35mm 2.3 lifters, 2.3 exhaust cam housing, and a modified 2.4 intake cam housing.

So theres 2 different valve springs you can use? I thought its just the HO's (Berreta GTZ 91'-91'). Now theres the 95 Quad springs? Or am I just reading this forum wrong (sorry, had a few beers!).

*please correct me if Im wrong!

95 springs work with stock 2.4l valve retainers any other 2.3l before 95 has the same springs.

To run PRE 95 2.3 springs in a ld9 you need 2.3l springs 2.3l retainers, 2.4l keepers. this is the set up i have.

To run 95 springs all you need is the 95 2.3 springs so 95 2.3 springs stock 2.4 retainers and keepers
