Have a 96 2.4 LD9 5 Spd. Started off with a small tick and progressed so i looked into it more and most everyone said it was a rod bearing and sure enough when i tore into it the #2 rod had the bearings chewed to hell. Put it all back together put fluids in her and started her up and clanked for a couple seconds and then fine....then started its usually ticking again. i thought they just didnt have oil on them yet so i let it sit. still ticking so i took her out and got worse and worse so i took her home and by the time i got home it sounded like i had thrown the bearings AGAIN!!! Cant drive over 2000 RPM's without horrible clanking can someone help. rods and everything looked fine when i was in there so i really have no idea

.... If the crank journal got hurt in ANY way, shape, or form. It will always chew up new bearings. That’s why people have them cut.
