Ecotec HO Manifold (not the 2.3)

No, I'm not asking how to adapt the 2.3 HO manifold to the Eco.

Instead, I came across this today. It appears to be a 2.4L manifold from the Cobalt that they mated to a 2.2L Eco from a 2006 Cobalt (anyone know if there were any changes after 2005?. The kit comes with the manifold, an adapter plate, adapter plate gaskets, seals, and brake booster hose.

PDF installation instructions are there for you to view as well.

Anyone care to discuss this?

I would love to see more pictures of everything. I know where a 2.4 motor is.

It doesn't look like they mated anything. That thing looks like it is solid plastic. Looks like it just happens to mate up.

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

other than minor cosmetics whats the difference from the 03-05 2.2 eco manifold???

im suspecting this is another case of "save your money and port the stock manifold"

but if someone knows different please enlighten...

wonder if anyone actually did a flow comparison of the 2 intakes

other than the TB mounting , wonder what all is different with the older 2.2 intakes

the 2.4 manifold flows much better than the 2.2 manifold I hear. Porting the stock 2.2 manifold to the ports on the block is still a good idea, more top end power.

I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'

not only did i match mine to the head, but i also opened the TB throat area, matched it to my Reveco TB (60mm plate, 62mm at bottom of TB) and removed some webbing at the bottom of the TB section that should allow better air flow to the outer cylinders. if you look straight into a stock manifold all you see are the inlets for cylinders #2 and #3...mine you can see all 4 easily. i went to town on it...

I was hoping the manifold would be metal. I fail

but, if the 2.4 does bolt up without issue, I am pretty sure there is a metal 2.4 manifold out there. IMO, this would be great for anyone looking to run nitrous and not worry about blowing out their stock manifold. I can only imagine taking material out of the stock manifold would make it more prone to destruction during a backfire.

for nitrous i think id go with the saab turbo manifold. its metal so it would be stronger and better suited to drilling n taping for direct port, and its design doesnt leave any areas for fuel to pool up in a plate/fogger system.
