the 03 and up 2.2 ecos are all the same. the 02 uses different injector harnesses i do believe so i would say any year 03 or new would be the way to go.

^^^ hes right....I am doing the swap too, My ecotec came from a 2003 Sunfire....The 2002 ecotecs have a different fuel rail and injectors. So I would go with 2003 + on an ecotec..

Doesn't matter, 02-05 as long as you get the rail and fuel lines from an 03+. Although I did hear something about the first year eco's cylinder sleeves come loose. It was a bulliten when I used to work for GM. If I remember right it only applied to the 02's though.

Not trying to thread jack, but hey skwirl, nice run all motor, but is all that ranting and raving about show cars necessary. I've got about 15K in my car, and about a third of that is looks, so does that put me in the "Body-builder" class, or does the fact that I drive it nearly every day put it more in the "middleweight boxer" class? Just curious, seeing as you're sooo against show cars, why shave your fuel door and locks, that's a show thing not a race thing. Why not just leave the body completely stock and just do performance mods. I mean according to you cosmetic mods are way overrated. Yet you've done a pre 2k swap, according to sig, along with an import fighter front bumper, and you've got more cosmetics in the works, that's kind of being a hypicrit isn't it.

he said he's against show cars. does his look like a show car? does a show car touch the 13's? he didn't say he was against cars with kits, he said he's against cars that are all stock motor, and look like a million bucks and don't get driven..it's a car that's whats ment to happen.

wanting a car to look good doesn't mean it's a show car. I agree with skwirl, if you're going to sped tons of money on a car just so it can be parked, than what is the point. cars are meant to drive. in the same token, i applaud the show car guys for doing what they do so i can have something awesome to look at when i go to car shows.

If you're going to boost it, go with a 2002 ecotec motor. Only because the stock pistons are much stronger. If not go with an 05 motor.

Now if youre going to build and boost right away, its no big deal.
