Need a drivetrain swap, would this work?

I have a 97 2.2 5 spd 2dr coupe. Engine is on it's way out, same with trans.

I found this on craigslist looking for donors, but it's a 98 and I'm don't know if it will work in my car without a lot of finagling.

'98 z24

Thanks!

Nothing but a commuter to me.

if its a commuter car then i wouldnt swap in the 2.4 from that z24..... find another cavy or sunfire with a 2.2. You have to do a lot of work to get that 2.4 to work in your car

I think that's a pretty direct swap. look at some other posts in this forum, I'm sure there's some threads regarding doing a 2.2OHV-to-2.4TC swap. you prob. need the pcm and stuff, but if you're getting a (more or less) whole car, that shouldn't be a prob. Hell, that same engine and tranny were available from the factory. everything should line up beautifully. and the 2.4 is not just better b/c its more powerful, it is a better engine by design (DOHC vs. OHV- no contest).
