hey guys i have a 96 Z 5 speed. i am in the process of pulling the engine and have gotten everything ready and unhooked and blah blah blah except, the fuel lines and the clutch stuff. i have never pulled one of these b4 so im not sure how to get the lines off the fuel rail and my chilton says something about clutch pushrod and clutch line so if you could help me out that would be awesome thanks guys!!

if its the LD9 all you have to do about the fuel rail is move it out of the way, mine twisted to the right and free for the engine to raise. Im about to pull mine in a little once my cousin drops off the cherry picker.

alright sounds good i will just take the fuel rail off then but what about the clutch stuff the chilton talks about??? the only other think i see connected is right under where the power steerin was and its a tube connected to a metal thing i can get a picture of it if that would help.

when you pull the rail, make sure you ease out the injectors with it (they will be pressed into the head) just pull gently and wiggle and they will all pop out, sometimes its tricky so just be careful.

as for how to actually pull the engine using the cherry picker....

first off, to do it the RIGHT way you need to buy an engine pulling bar, make one yourself, or redneck rig up something to work. there are two spots on the engine that you hook the chains to- then hook the chains to the bar, then the center chain on the bar to the hook on the cherry picker. one spot is right in front off to the left, its a hefty chunk of cast iron thats bolted to the side of the block, this piece also is what the engine mount is bolted to. there is a lil ring on the end of it to hook your hook onto. the other spot is in the back on the right. right on the end of the exhaust cam tower, this piece is a lot less beefy, but it holds just fine. it also has a ring for the hook.

you take the bar and run it accross the top of the engine and hook up the chains accordingly. works like a charm.

as for the clutch stuff, im not really sure on. more details?

ok im really lost, you shouldnt have to mess with anything with that stuff IIRC. if your not messing with the tranny that is.

put a line wrench on the section coming out of the tranny, and i cant tell if the other part screwed into it has hex area to hold a wrench to, but if it does, hold the line wrench steady on the tranny section and spin off the line with the other wrench.

if that doesnt work, i have no idea.

again, is there something wrong with the tranny? why are you pulling it to?

while they're in the tranny have them install a team green LSD or phantom grip LSD while they're at it

I think it connects where the flywheel is, but if you dont have a stand just lay it on a tire without a rim. Its sits perfect and you dont have to spend money for a stand. Unless your doing the rebuild yourself.

already have a stand but i may just do that but yea i planned on doin alot of the stuff myself like the assembly and stuff but the tranny is almost off so i will look for some suitable spots that look like it could go. the stands mounting arms have really long holes the bolts have to slide through so the bolts have to be pretty long but i will see what i can find thanks buddy

I know this a Little late but all you had to do was push in on the big black ring on that slave cylinder connection (big ugly black thing that the pic is of) and pull comes right apart no wrenchs needed just wanted to add that for future use.

use your longer tranny bolts for the engine stand.
