4T40E question
Monday, June 18, 2007 7:56 PM
i have a 2000 cavy with the 2200 and 4T40E 4spd tranny... i jus blew the motor like 2 days ago... my question is, will an 2004 ECOtec engine, that also has the 4T40E, work with mine from my car? i was told that i would need to take the torque converter from the ECO and that the bellhousings may be different... if so, is it possible to swap bellhousings?

i have a 96 LD9 with 4T40E....the guy that was going to do my eco swap said the trans would work just fine. i ended up going with another LD9 just because he found it first and i needed a car.

The ECOTEC uses a different bellhousing than both the LD9 and the LN2.

Also need a wire harness and ECU swap.

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

Don't mean to jack the thread. Will the 4T40E work with a 89 2.0L without too much modification? The engines fine in my 1989 Cavy but the TH125 tranny won't stay in 3rd gear due to the previous owners lax in maintenance, To tell you the truth I'm amazed the motor ran as well as it did since when I bought the car the oil hadn't been changed for 12,000+mi. I was thinking about getting another TH125 since alot of the local junkyards are selling used ones for $100 but I could use an overdirve gear the way gas prices are these days.

i realize the bellhousings are different... is it possible to swap them over... that is my question...

plus ill have my car sittin rite next to an 04 cavy that has the eco still in it so i can jus do a sie-by-side swap...

The 4t40e is computer controlled, so I doubt it will work.

Spike...NO, will not work without a lot of modification, and new computer to control the 4T40-E
