installed magnaflow cat back system. questions

i installed the cat back system and i am waiting on the flange gasket to come in so i made a temp one . but since i installed the cat back my car feels like it dogs in lower to mid rpms and when i looked under my car near the flange because not having a gasket i see a black liquid dripping down from the flange. i have no cel on. and i smelt the liquid it does not smell like gas. so i stumped on what to do. need some help. p.s the magnaflow sounds amazing ...

does this mean my car is running rich? i dont know but i am plannign on the track for weds next week and i would like to have no bogging...

That black liquid is probably water mixed with exhaust soot., get a good gasket, install it, and forget about it. And as with most larger exhaust systems, lower RPM power loss is sacrificed for upper RPM gains, especially with a header. It has to do with exhaust velocity, smaller pipe has a higher exit velocity, so is good for torque, larger pipe flows more gases out, but loses a bit of velocity in the process.
