I have a header, and my mechanic said he couldnt get the bolts off of the old header to get the new ones on, so i was wondering, should i take it to a different mechanic? I was told i could get either an exhaust leak with cutting, or warping.. is this true? Also, they were suppose to be heated, and still nothing? what do you guys think? I'm thinking of taking it to outta control just to see because krazy kustomz also could not get the exhaust off, but outta control did and the bolts were rusted worse? Lemme know, i'd like to have headers but idk? also if i'd get a turbo setup would i need a turbo exhaust header as well ?

Also anyone know where i could get a turbo kit for a 2.2L ecotec cavalier with an auto trans? Hahn has a nice stage 1 turbo kit for the ecotec but its for a manual only.

Well if you go to a turbo setup you can't use your header. I wouldn't be surprised in some cases if places tell you they can't get the bolts off, simply to avoid actually doing the work because I believe the header on the Eco and on the 2.4 can be a bit of a pain in the a$$. I'd say soak the bolts in some PB Blaster and then go somewhere else if you don't want to try doing it yourself. That stuff works and works damn well as I've found in the past. I can't believe with your car being a 2003 that it would be rusted that bad, although you are in PA and winters up our way can cause some damn good rust...
Not looking forward to when I eventually tackle the header on my '98 2.4...that's probably going to be hell. PB Blaster and a good sized breaker bar will be coming out...hopefully I don't snap any bolts or strip anything (seems I do both quite often)
On my '02 2200 the bolts came out easier than I expected... Id say to take a look at it yourself and see if you cant get the bolts to crack, My guess is that the guy had a bit of trouble and just didnt want to do the work. I never used PB Blaster, but I have used liquid wrench before, im not sure if its the same thing.
Id soak the bolts down as suggested, and give them a crank yourself, if you can get them loose then you should be all good to get the work done by whomever, if you dont want to do it yourself. Getting the bolts loose yourself will save you the labor of having someone else need to do it, y'know?
Id say that If you plan on going turbo in the near future, then sell the header and use the money towards boost, otherwise if itll be a while, hell throw it on there and enjoy it!
good luck with the project!
Whatsup. Just wanted to letcha know i got the header installed. Outta Control Racing did it. I've had nothing but trouble with Krazy Kustomz and nothing but sucess with Outta Control. I'll be going there first from now on. They charge a bit more, but they get the job done right. Heres a pic of the old and then the new. The old is for sale for 50 plus 15 to ship. Hit me up.

http://www.outta-control-racing.com/index.php thats the website for outta control located in altoona, pa. He does a lot of tuner jobs and general repairs. He'll do just about anything performance wise and i've had nothing but sucess from him. Hes also very quick about getting you into the shop, i got in the next day for the header. I plan on having him do a turbo eventually and it will have to be customized since i drive an auto but i trust him with the job.
