does anyone know where I can get a forged crank for a 97 quad 4 motor ?
it has to be really strong.

Nobody here has EVER broken a stock crank. You're fine with what you have, just have it polished up.

why? you shooting for 600-700whp? if not then you aint going to need it.
yes I am shooting for 650 or higher but I want it pretty much bullet proof

If you find a 97 quad 4, show it to me cause it doesn't exist. LD9 yes, quad 4 no.

650whp I am LMFAO. You do realize that is like 220whp more than the highest LD9 whp we have proof of. At 650whp if it is even possible with a LD9 your engine parts are more like bullets then bullet proof.

FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
gonna run it on alcohol for now, super charge it, getting pauter connecting rods and pistons, custom sleevs, port and polish(flow benched), stainless header heat wraped, inconel valves, bronze valve guides, modified oil pump, havent decided on the springs yet, cams, shall I continue all I want to know is if anyone knows where I can get a forged crank shaft
if you arent gonna help then go away

riiiiiiight, how you going to tune for the alcohol?
you DO realize theres not one single s/c available for ANY of our cars thats going to put you anywhere near 400, let alone 650? ok i could POSSIBLY see MAYBE 350whp with a custom m90 setup, which ppl have done, but no #'s.
i dont even think the stock 2.4 head PORTED OUT AS BIG AS POSSIBLE could flow enough air to support that much.
to once and for all answer your question. theres only one person i know of that has a STEEL crank, and its sweetnessgt on here. he had it custom made i do believe. but as for a crank readily available-nope. no way, no how.
i dont think anyone makes any for a 2.4 LD9

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
you have to have a place custom make it for you and get charged up the wazoo

Hum, you'll need more than that to get the ammount of power you claim you want to achieve. Your best bet would be the 2.3 for a project like that but I know you won't achieve it so why would we help.

You don't know something like this and think you can build a 650whp 2.4? Stop dreaming. You don't know enough to build one and people that build those kind of engine, don't go on forum to be spoon feed on how to do it.

Brian Crower at Crower cams. I was quoted about $2500 and 14 weeks for a one-off billet 4-cyl crank. A billet would be stronger and cheaper for a single unit production.

Engine diagnostics and smog is only a tiny island in the ocean of what you need to know to do what you want to do. Lemme ask ya, have you passed the ASE L1 Advanced test yet? Is it easy? I took it and passed with 98% the first time they offered it. That was before they "dumbed it down" so there wouldn't be as many techs failing it. Diagnostics is about following a process. It's about using logical thought and a good understanding of the basic mechanical, ignition, fuel, and engine management systems to work from symptom to solution. Those skills do almost nothing to teach you what you need to know to get 300 hp per liter out of an engine (that's the equivalent of a 2100hp big block Chevy, BTW). And with an attitude which makes it so no one wants to help you, well, good luck on your quest.

I take my smog licencing test in a month I have A6 A8 and L1 2005 and 2007 update only 5 guys out of a class of 25 passed it I was one of them. you been through the bmw program? bet not Im gettin ready to start that soon. I am not the one with the attitude I asked a simple question cuz all my other sources keep giving me the run around and some of you people have nothing better to do than walk all over my ass I dont put up with that ever! if you dont want to help then dont yuou dont have to post if you dont want to but for christ sake if your just gonna bad mouth me then clam up!!!!!!!!!

your going to try to get 650 hp supercharged??
Bahahahahahaahah....
We're tryin to help, but you aren't listening.
I'm not trying to prove my pee-pee has more training and is hung with more certifications. I'm telling you as someone who has training, experience, and an advanced understanding of a subject that you're just starting out in, that you have an unrealistic goal set for yourself.
The most likely outcome of shooting for 650 hp is that you'll talk about it, spend some money, and never even get an engine built. If you aim for 300 hp there's a good chance you'll get 'er done and earn some respect in the process.
There's probably a reason your other sources are giving you the run-around on the crank info. Ask yourself why a vendor who likes to sell parts isn't interested in telling you about parts you think you want to buy.
You've got a fairly complete list of wallet emptying parts in mind for your engine, yet I wonder if you have a solid technical grasp on the reasons behind selecting the parts you've mentioned. Are you really just trying to pick "the best" without realizing that you may have put the cart before the horse?
If you really want to make stupid levels of power, grab an ecotec engine and go to town. All the parts you'll need are available from either GM or the aftermarket. It's not cheap, but it's going to be cheaper, safer, and easier than trying to build the non-performance oriented 2.4 into a 600 hp rod belching demon.

ok.
i apologize for the long winded rant.
i honestly prefer to work with what i have. besides my fully functioning LD9 I have a motor that my # 4 cylinder grenaded on
also an LD9 all the bores are fine the head is fine #4 rod and piston are are in a small sandwich bag
I just have to get the stuff most of it im getting from buddies with connections so my wallet wont be hurting so bad
