Besides the show look of your hoods.. what would you prefer? extractor to let the heat out? or scoop to let all the air in? .. just curious.. my hoods' gelcoat got taken out by pebbles this spring.. lookin for a good upgrade..

Depends on what your plans are for the car.

neither's going to much of anything without some form of ducting to route the airflow. The extractor MAY keep underhood temps a little lower while sitting, but neither will do enough to be considered a performance mod without some form of ducting either to the intake or in the case of the extractor, from the radiator to the vents.

i like the extractor for the simple fact that everyone and there mom has a type of ram air hood

the extractor hood works better when you are MOVING. the air flow that goes past the opening in the hood draws the air out of the engine bay. NO need for duct. For the ram air, you would need some duct unless they made it to connect to the stock air box.
I have the extractor hood. For the cold air coming in, I routed tubing from the front bumper to right in front of the short ram
thats kinda what i was thinking for the extractor.. higher airflow through the engine bay... cooler engine.. right?

99.99% of this decision should come down to the aesthetic look that you prefer. In all reality, it isn't going to make an obscene amount of difference either way.

I vote extractor
unless you have ducting for ram air or somewhere for the air to go all you are going to do is create lift under the hood.
for the extractor, the pressure is relived not so much by the air passing over it, but by the air pressure coming in the front of the car. since most of the air leaving has passed through the rad it takes some heat with it.
however, unless you have a wind tunnel at your disposal, exact size or placement for the extrator is all mostly guesswork. unless you can actually test it in a controlled enviorment, you will never really know what it is or is not doing for you

I live in a super rainy climate

. juneau ak.. from experience.. does your extractor dump a lot of water onto your block?
would a scoop also help cool a tubro mani? 40* days are common where i live.... dont have to worry about.. outside temp.. just engine temps

when you lower underhood temps, typically, you lower everything. however, your mani is connected directly to your head, so temp difference on that might be marginal at best.
as far as rain screwing with your motor, it all depends on where the extractors are and how bigthe extractors are

Go with the extractor, You wont damage anything, since the opening is in front of the block/engine. You'd probably see some steam when water hits the exhaust manifold. I've had mine for about 4 years now (snow, rain, very hot temps, a severe wind). I also recently coated it with new gloss. The looks I get are everywhere, plus I do notice a slight difference in cooling. I also removed my A/C radiator to alow more air to vent through, inconjunction with the extractor hood. I do however recommend using hood pins, since above 70mph, the hood begins to lift and kinda warp a little. As far as the ram air hood, it looks like it can actually send water toward the intake box (if it were modyfied to send ram air to an air box), plus though at first they were popular back 6 years ago, the fact is that they pretty much belong to our older brother (camaro). I also belive that the cavies body is too narrow to be used inconjunction with the ram air hood. Hope you pick the extractor, you wont regret it!
