ATTENTION: for all with poly motor/trans mounts

just tonight i broke my first halfshaft... i have a 2.2l OHV, with no serious mods, and a new passenger halfshaft installed about 4 months ago...
i have both the upper Turbo Tech Racing mount, and the RKSport lower mount and have been in for roughly 6 months. and the front bolt for the upper mount has sheared... apparently the mounts had displaced enough torque to break the halfshaft... and there's my project for the weekend... so if anyone knows of a good company who sells decent proformance halfshafts, in stock, i would really like to know, seeing my car is out of commission, unless i get some this sunday...

A picture so we could see what you are talking about would be helpfull. I doubt it has much to do with the mounts. Granted firmer mounts will not absorb the shock of wheel hop as much as soft stock mounts. Wheel hop is a far more likely culprit for the broken part. Which half shaft broke and what went wrong with the previous one?

And in answer to your question about good aftermarket axles. I do not know where you would go. I do know that many cars making alot more power than yours have not had issues even with drag radials. The stock axles reaaly are not that bad.

driveshaft shop axles is where you would go

but they ain't cheap

just get an OEM replacement for like $80, you'll be fine

DSS axles go for like $500 for a set i think

it was the passenger side axle that went, haven't ripped it apart to see if i really snapped it, or just broke the joint severely... will post pics later tonight when it's all apart.... i replaced the original one no more than 10K ago... so i don't know why this one has gone bad so quickly... i honestly think it's the mounts that did it... the stock OEM ones lasted 130,000 miles before i replaced the pasenger side

I highly doubt it was the mounts.
Im assuming you got a reman axle and did not buy a brand new factory one???

What were you doing when it broke? Were you just driving along, or where you launching the car. Did you feel a lot of vibrations (wheel hop) right before it broke?
