2.4L build and Engine Running too rich???

Alright to star off this is what i've done
Engine Mods
Weisco 10.5:1 Pistons
Weisco Piston Rings
Block Bored .020 over
Clevite 77 Main Bearings
Clevite 77 Rod Bearings
Polished Crank
Block Resurfaced
Ported and Polished Head
Valve Job
New Valve seals
Secret Cam Swap
Head Resurfaced
56 mm Throttle Body
2.3L H.O Intake Manifold (Ported and polished to match flange)
Chris Fontana adapter flange
OBX Header
New Timing chain
New Oil Pump
New Water Pump
All new Gaskets
B&M Shift kit
Computer Tuned By “shifted” for application

Exhaust
magnaflow street series muffler
Magnaflow hi flow cat
thrush 31" res
2.25" pipes

ok so its been about 300 miles and the car has trouble starting and sputters at take off and dies occasionally. my codes kicked once and it read cam, crank, map censor and "system running too rich" so i cleared them but now it still runs like crap without a CEL. upon start up i can smell the fuel, see white smoke from my exhaust, and has excessive fuel consumption. so my question is am i right to assume the computer is tuned too rich or is there anything else i should check? Also i found a local dyno, should i have them tune the car?

Nice build you got there. Seems alot like mine..LOL.. anyways.. you should try to get a wideband O2 to see exactly how rich you're running. However I don't see where you've upgraded to better fuel injectors or fuel pump. So I'm wondering what the deal is there.

Ok so do you think my engine is being starved of fuel or are you just saying at higher RPMs when the car is tunned right that the stock injectors and fuel pump will starve the engine?

well, paul tjepkes has a VERY similar build and i just got dun driving his car today, his has the stock injectors/pump and it runs beautifully... only difference is his computer hasn't been tuned yet.

lol, similar minus the fact that paul has a rotating assemply prolly 45 pounds lighter a way more aggressive cam, and it still idles like a champion.

Souns like you have some fueling issues, or perhaps a vacuum leak of some kind.

STOCK FTW i would swap back to stock and see what it doing from there there is really no need to upgrade the fueling system in a high comp engine.

Would Oil getting in the cylinder cause a similar problem? - Just a thought. But I would still check the AFR.

if you going to the dyno to get it checked out i would just leave your injectors you have now in and bring you stock ones along if its running rich swap to stock see how that does.

Also the local dyno cant tune my car it can just tell me my numbers and A/F ratio, but i have to make an appointment to go there so it will probably be next week b4 i go

Have you checked your plugs? They will give you an inside view of your engine. I would also look into the codes that were thrown earlier about your cps, and your map sensors. They could throw your car into limp mode, resulting in retarded timing and extra fuel.

yeah i changed the plugs when the car started to do this.... I haven't thrown another code since the first time, but start ups are getting worse and i can smell the fuel each time.

Do you have a buddy with HPT? It doesn't even have to be HPT for tuning a cavalier. HP Tuner's for GTP's and other cars can at least scan your car and see what your are is doing about fuel and spark and such.
