hello fellow j-heads i am loking for insight as to this swap i have opted to do go with this engine in my j-body car
for the simple reason that it opens up more options. i want it to be a fun reliable everyday car, sow high comp and turbo builds are out of the question.
with a 4g63 i can have 20psi-plus on stock internals with pump gas and an insane swap. i don't know if leaving it fwd or an awd conversion would be easier.
your feed back would be much apreciated.
ive herd of this swep b4. dont know much about it. would love to see one in persone though!
im pretty sure from what i remember you need to use the subframe from a 96+ talon eclipse and adapt that to the j platform.

You couldn't do AWD, we don't have a driveshaft tunnel, and our unibody wouldn't support power from the back. Also, if you were going to go through all the trouble, why would you want a 7-bolt? Third, you can put 250 to the wheels on any J motor completely stock internally, which is more than FWD will have traction for on the street, so what's the point?
I love my 4G63's, but the J is not a good application for one.
fortune cookie say: better a delay than a disaster
yay for idiots
search , other douche bags like your self have asked about this before
just buy a dam eclipse or talon
4g63 are very unreliable and leaks oil and have real problems down the road...but if thats what your into go ahead
i just took a pretty sweet shiit earlier... it was one of those iceburg ones that stick out above the water. felt pretty good lauching that ass rocket.. almost blew up on the lauch bad though

you know what 97cavie24ls(™) your responses are unwarranted sow just go ahead and buzz off. no one needs your negativity on this site
An LSJ ecotec would be an easier swap and holds similar power numbers as for an AWD conversion, just stop thinking crazy, if you want a GSX just get one, dont try to make a J into one

Youre not exactly in the right position to tell him what to do. The noob section is for people like you. If you ask about it, you are most likely not going to do it, you don't have the knowledge to do it and you are just a poser.
People that do those swap don't ask if it's worth it. They do it for themself, not to look cool.

Leaving it FWD would definitely be easier, making it AWD would be nearly as hard or harder as swapping in a V8 and making the car RWD.
why do people warrent these questions with any sort of resposne? hes not going to do it, he doesnt know jack about our cars and apperntly theres and if he droped more newb bombs then I care to read.
Heres a hint that might make you a little more sucsesful. dont tell people that a motor can handel blank lbs of boost that doesnt mean anything, and as far as an expericend gear head is conceared is reason enough to find the user incompetent of turning a wrench.
boost is relative

Honestly... Out of all the ludicrous 4 cylinder engine swaps you could have chosen, you chose the one with the worst problem of them all.

Versus Motorsports really @!#$ sucks
and so does DHL...but more
ive seen pics of a beretta with the entire setup, minus the AWD tho. a beretta is basically the same thing as a 2nd gen j, so its definatly doable... do i think its worth it? hell no. 2.ftw.
I think that would be a great, origional (when done) swap.. there would be many problems you would have to sort out.. many.. but if you want to go for it.. thats your choice..
i think it would be easier to mount a cav body on a talon frame myself... but its your money
.. dont let the haters bash your ideas down, that would be a wicked build.. a little oil leak is a lot better than spun bearings (2.4)
just if you start it.. we wanna see pictures.. lots of em... i mean.... LOTS
