I have a 1998 Cavalier w\ a 2.2L. Im looking into loosing weight off the car. I have decided I could get rid of the Passenger Side airbag. But i have a few problems.
1. Is that illegal?? Not that I care, but i curious LOL.
2. How do i get the SRS light to stay off after removal? Some say to put in a specific resistor, and then some say to use a simulator.
3. Does the system still work on the driver side after the passenger side is disabled via simulator\resistor?
4. What kind of weight savings am I looking at for removing the passenger airbag, and the metal crap in the top part of the dash cover?

airbags are there for a reason. expecially in a cavy. lol if you want weight reduction try making your own fenders and what not. im sure theres a write up somewhere on the net about that. if this is your DD i wouldnt recomend it. your rear seat would weigh more. or your spare tire if you got AAA, sh!t.

Listen F***ers. FASTERTHANAHONDA is a joke because I WORK FOR HONDA. I'll talk @!#$ about Fords to, that doesn't mean I can beat a 12 second mustang.
Sorry, those are already gone. LOL. I rarely ever have a passenger so safety is not much of a concern. My girlfriend rides with the most, but shes small enough to be hurt by the bag anyway.
Its a tough decision lol.

man..these guys really like to play " Mr. Safety" dont they...the passenger side airbag box weighs aboutttt.. 10lbs at most? mines gone..well not gone its in the garage i want to blow it up in my back yard one day

i dont think the driver back will work if the passenger side is disconnected. .. as far as a resister i dont know but what i did was simply take off the side of the gauge over lay and put black tape behind the airbag light..so i dont see it

..and yes this will still pass inspection..inspectors are not instructed on what cars had what airbags..and they have no idea whether they work or if they are even installed..especially if you make sure the light isnt visible...hope i helped
the airbags are not part of the inspection at all in nc. i do remember seeing a post about a gentleman saying somthing about "if you were wondering if the drivers bag would work without the passenger side" well basically he had removed the pass side, and got in an accident, and the drivers did pop. but i would still install the simulator. or resister, i plan on it myself.
