Hey guys i know this is a dumb question just bear with me... I've had what i thought was a complete roller rocker set sitting in my bedroom for a few months and finally got the time yesterday to try to install them. I got the valve cover off and the first two rockers off no problem, but when i looked at the new rocker i was about to put on something didnt add up. It could just be that im not that engine savvy as of yet when it comes to putting theory to work but i think im missing something...heres what ive got:

and some close up pics of the bolt or stud or whatever it is (im a little confused and frustrated right now)

another angle

sorry the pics are somewhat blurry took the picture with a phone... i think i prolly asked a stupid question but i couldnt find any answers anywhere (Only thing i could find was install for a viper and for some 8 cylinder truck that looked like it was using spacers). Anyway help is greatly appreciated
your missing the rocker studs.
That thing you're holding in your hand looks to be the posi-lock nut. When you set your valve lash you get the nut where it needs to be, then tighten the set screw which puts prssure on the top of the stud to hold it in place. But you also need to get new studs, like Phlatcav said. You need studs from a 2.8 V6. I can't remember which year engine I got mine for but it was an early 90's. They have the proper M10 threads to mount in the head, but have the 3/8" threads to mount your rockers. You'll also have to open up your valve guides so the pushrods don't bind.
sweet guys... thank you soo much. Yeah i knew about the valve guides but i didnt realize i was missing anything til yesterday. I'll start looking for the studs, but if anyone has part numbers thats cool too. Again, thanks a ton guys, i was about to send the things back before i realized they were a perfect fit just looked like i was missing the stud (now that i know what im missing). Thanks guys.
part number: 88419-12 Chevrolet 60° 3/8 top, 10mm bottom, for chevy v6 (2.8-3.1L)... im pretty sure thats right, just in case anyone else needs the info later.
IF NOT, please someone correct me cause im going to buy them in a couple days, and id hate to screw anyone else over too.
by the way thats crowers part number
Not sure about the part number but the description is right. I got mine for like $10 at the local junkyard so I couldn't tell ya lol.
yeah autozone wants like $2 a piece for them, and crower wants like $90 for a set so ima prolly go with the autozone stuff since theres are clevite anyway. thanks man.
You open up the pushrod guides, NOT THE VALVE GUIDES...that would be bad lol.
Also, the V6 rocker studs are for the magnum rocker conversion only, the threading is not correct for the polylocks on the aluminum rockers you have.
You need the expensive rocker studs, sorry.

Yesterday was a bad day for me. I would sit down to type something, and my niece would start in on something and I'd type sh!t all wrong. I dind't even catch that before I posted it and I don't have an edit button anymore.
LOL... youre good i knew what you were talkin about man.
Bringing this back to the top:
Anyone want to go half with me on a set of Proform rockers (
Link) and ARP studs (
Link) for a 98-up 2200 (Metric studs and no pushrod guides)? It'll be about $135 for your half, it's $266 for the V8 set from Summit
i have half of that set already, no studs though. $60 for the rockers if you want them.
OK, let me ask you... is it worth it? can you tell a difference at all, or is it basically something to do so that you can say "I did it"?
i never got them installed. right after i bought them i decided on doing an eco swap
so the ones you have are the same ones in the link I posted? if so, send me a bill on paypal to ebrown0104@hotmail.com
they are the exact ones. bill sent.
I'd go half for some studs. PM me if you're interested.
