check all your connections grounds are a big thing if its loose or off nothings going to happen . also its probably ok but did you spin the motor over by hand first ??? make sure it spins freely at least 2 full revolutions just to be safe .just my suggestion even the best can make a mistake .

it will take a short while to prime the oil pump and get it to the top of the motor but just to be safe you may want to hook up a oil pressure guage to it and make sure . its not going to turn over real easy and if you have the plugs in it will be real hard to turn .im not sure abou the 2.4 but on my 2.2 i can let it idle with the valve cover off and i can watch the oil come up and lube the rockers on yours you should see the oil coating your cams . also is it a knock or just a fast ticking noise ?

hope its not a bearing. whats the torque lbs. on the rods supposed to be? could i've spun a bearing already tho?

yes you could have spun a bearing already, i replaced my bad ones not that long ago and within 30 seconds of starting it back up they spun again. Thats when i decided on a total rebuild. Why did you rebuild in the first place?

because it was knocking and that was my excuse to do a whole rebuild.
