2200 intake manifold on an inline 2.2

ok guys i was wondering if a 2200 intake maifold will fit on my inline 2.2 (not 2200)

is this a non-J 2.2?

Be more specific please

If your thinking og a '98+ 2200 intake fitting a pre-'98 2.2L, no they won't fit. The 2200s have rectangular ports, while the 2.2L have round ports. I'm not sure, but I believe the bolt pattern is differnt also.

i have a 2.2 in my cav now its a 96 i want to swap the intake mainfold of a 2200 2.2 to put on my
(new question)
i have the top feed injector convertion done but i dont know how much pressure the injectors are under if the pressure from the engine will push fuel past the seals or not for the injectors thats why i wanted to do the swap

You can't swap the manifolds without swapping the heads.
Your manifold is under vacuum unless you are boosted, so it could not "push" fuel past the seals.

so if i had a 2.2 ohv and i wanted to port and polish my head etc...could i port and polish / valvejob a 2200 head and use it with my 2.2ohv block...AND do a 2.3 intake manifold swap (which i heard is possible)

basically does the 2.2 ohv block line up with the 2200 head?

i donno if that would work ithink it would you would just have to do some new routing of wires and stupid stuff but are the 2200 heads better than the 2.2 ohv heads cause i have very high compestion from shaving my head to the max and it hold up very well to my abuse

i did a 2.3 ho swap on my s10 that has the 2200 works good for me no problems

I don't have any idea on the Quad manifold swap, does anyone have a picture of the quad mounting flange? I know for sure the port shapes are completely different.

The 2.2L and 2200 have vastly different combustion chambers, so you have to swap pistons as well to keep reasonable compression. You also need to swap cooling systems (different external plumbing), and pushrods, as well as checking injector impedance. You also need to worry about EGR if you are required to take a visual inspection with emissions.

A good friend of mine, and knowledgeable GM tuner attempted to put the 2200 head and up on his 2.2 engine. The result was damn near an engine fire if I remember correctly. He never did get it to run right, so eventually he just swapped a 2.4tc into the car.

This was in a 96 Beretta also.

It has been done before. It sounds like your buddy didn't tighten down the intake manifold of injector rail quite enough.

If I remember correctly he didn't change the pistons. It was a disaster.

Well, that would give like 6:1 compression, but it wouldn't cause a fire...

I can see large amounts of exhaust heat resulting from incomplete combustion. I saw the same thing once when a guy had installed 350 pistons in a 327.

It was Dave Holst if you know of him, he's been around the communities for years.
