Thursday, November 08, 2007 11:06 PM
well i'm bored and supposed to be studying for a microeconomics test but i got to thinking about my eninge build, then i got to thinking who might have the best 2200 build? i did a search and found a couple candidates but i want to find the most Bada$$ ln2 build and maybe compare to my own build.

So post all your LN2 builds!

P.S. for all the ln2 haters, just stay out!

I'm kinda curiouse about that myself..... all I really know about is LD9's.... and have never worked on a LN2

The LN2 guys seem to have a lot less issues than me so you got me thier

A buddie of mine wan't to build a LN2 Cavy... so I'll be watching too.

I think slowolej has the most impressive setup, mainly because everyone says it's impossible.
Todd Tennant may have the most powerful, but AFAIK he's never posted numbers.

I should be leading the power list when my motor is done.

it was a red boosted sunfire from TX. dont know if he had it anymore, but that was pretty bad arsed... might still be in the boosted forum.

lowfire had/has a bad arse 2.2L build...not as 2200, but 2.2L from the 95-97 era.

theres quite a few overall though.

Wow lets see who wasted the most money on a 2.2 turd of an engine.

That's Adler, our Karas informant lol. He no longer has the motor (pistons/rods and MSD are in my garage), but he hops on the forums every once in a while.

I'm not sure if that was ever completed (still in progress even?), but I do remember some radical parts being involved. I think the GTO is keeping him busy.

Let's not forget juicedz4, by far the most elaborate build, and probably the front-runner for the power record if it ever stays together.

Event had a nice motor (or 2?), too bad it (they) was (were) never boosted.

Of course, there have also been a couple rockin' NA builds, but they were not really org members (although 1 joined for a short while).

And how much have you spent on the slow POS you drive? I'd be willing to bet that I could show up to the next bash with an LN2 that cost less, and beat you in the 1/4...and I'll do it NA I'd even be willing to wager all inclusive travel costs

I think Dan's going to own the record for most expensive engine ever built. And he's spent huuuuge amounts of time and money on the whole car.

I know of one guy with an NA LN2 racing in Ohio who's made 235 @ the wheels. This was last year and he was working on making some solid roller lifters last time we spoke, so who knows what he'll end up with next year.

-->Slow

I would definitely have to give my overall vote to Dan (JuicedZ4), Art i think the red one you're talking about is Stevefire, him and Lowfire are a close tie for second in my mind, and Slow is 3rd, but only because he's still got a long way to go until its done. They're all awesome though.

I'm sure people with sub $3,000 LX Fox bodies running in the 14's stock think the same thing about people spending double that on a four cylinder Cavalier motor just to be able to run with them.

Ummmm.... where are you getting this mid 14's stock from?

A 5.0 LX Fox Body Mustang runs mid to high 15's stock.... and thats with a 5-speed and the 5.0 HO fuel injected motor..

Argue all you wan't... I know this from real world experience.... and it's true.

With the obviouse exeption of the Corbra and Shelby's.... I havn't seen a stock mustang that can outrun my sunfire to this day... even back when I was stock... although I havn't raced a new GT yet......

Thats just a bad and inacurate comparison man...

I'm not trying to be a dick or anything.... but I've ran both cars in question several times... and there probably isn't 2 other cars as even;y matched as they are. Ya Mustangs are cool cars and thier fun to drive... but they are not the speed deamons people think they are.

I don't remember exactly what they were, for some reason that material was stuck in my head. Maybe it was Chrome Silicon.... Its not my motor, so i don't remember for sure.

If you reread I never said anything about mid 14's, but it just so happens in the April '87 edition of Automobile magazine they put a '87 GT down the 1/4 mile in 14.4 seconds. With a good driver and maybe more importantly tires to hook 14's is easily in the realm of a 5.0 without engine mods. Check out this list of FACTORY 0-60 and 1/4 mile times tested mainly by automotive magazines with stock cars and click on the Ford link to see how many 5.0 Mustangs broke into the 14's. That's real world experience by qualified drivers. I'm pretty sure someone without 1/4 mile experience is gonna lay down a crappy high 15 second run.

As far as it being a bad and inaccurate comparison then you'd have to see it from my point of view when making the post. We had one Mr. Wade Jarvis being a complete troll trying to crap on a OHV thread when he hismelf doesn't even own a OHV, but does own a supercharged Z24 with a built bottom end and is ONLY in the 14's after the thousands spent including the cost of the car. Seems like a pretty big waste of money when sitting next to a few thousand dollar Fox body, so who is he to say putting money in a LN2 is a waste. I hate to use an old term but that's the pot calling the kettle black. I'm not saying they're speed demons myself stock in today's day and age, but they are great cars to get to put money into to go fast and would probably be near the top of my list if 1/4 mile racing was an interest of mine.

What some people need to realize is not everyone here is trying to be the fastest or even cares so if someone wants to do a little work on his LN2 then so be it. Too many LD9 and Eco owners bash the OHV, and then cry like a raped seagull when the import crowd doesn't give them respect. Modifying a car for some is just a hobby or something to do to personalize a car, not so they can go around town terrorizing the streets with a slow four banger. My car isn't the fastest car I've ever had by a long shot, but I don't reminisce about the others. I like my car cause it was CHEAP, cheap to work on, pretty reliable to begin with anyway, decent body style, and 30+ mpg. I like tinkering with it some, but it's never been my mindset to try to turn it into a fast (quick) car.

^^^^^^

Point taken.... for some reason I took what you said to mean the opposite than what you meant..... I basically thought you where bashing LN2's also and didn't realize you where just making a comparison....... sorry about that part......

As far as me saying that Cavy's and Mustangs are equal..... I was talking about the LD9 powered ones.

If a fox body like the one your talking about is capable of hitting a 14.4 in the quater stock when drivin by a professional driver.... well then..... so will my car.

My mod list is in my profile

As far as the Mustang I was talking about...... It's my dads.

1986 Ford Mustang LX
5.0 HO (high output) fuel injected V8 (comes with headders stock)
5-speed manual trannny
Cool air intake
catback exaust (glasspacks).

It's like freaking new and runs great... I've worked on it and drivin it several times.

His mustang and my sunfire have ALWAYS been dead even... every freaking time... all the way past 100mph.... the only way either of us can win is to hook better. Last time we ran eachother.... my car was running around a 15.6, since then... I've gotton down to a 15.2....... wich would tell me that his mustang is a mid to high 15 second car and since it runs just as good as any other stock mustang.... all Mustangs should run those time.

I've also raced some newer V-8 Mustangs and have either stayed right besides them, or beaten them.....

If what your saying is true...... I would like to see what a "professional driver" can make my car do.....

I'm still not trying to be a dick (honestly).... but you can see my point of view right?

sorry for throwing another thread off topic again..... soo.... how about those LN2's

I have for 400$ of "performance" mods. Of course, this is considering i started with a perfectly good running engine

I dont have the meanest 2.2 arround but i'm prety sure i've got the cheapest build that stands beside a mostly stock z24 (header and intake) and is actualy more fun to drive (lot more torque). I dont have numbers, just not worth spending 200$ to dyno a 400$ build...lol

Just for once, I'd like to see an OHV thread that didn't have an LD9 or eco guy pop in to swing his e-nuts around... Maybe just to return the favor i'll start going around to all the eco and LD9 threads and start posting stupid crap like "Why would you waste that kind of money on a 2.4? LN2 4eva!".... Oh wait, thats right, I have better things to do with my time than to read threads i'm not interested in just to sh*t talk.... Sad that others can actually find the time to waste in such pursuits.

some of this posts are kind of pointless (besides the very obvious, off topic posts)... i mean, to me... just saying "so and so has the best engine" doesnt really do much. give some specs! and if youre ALL WORLD, post some pics or at least a link! like cody!
