Finnished Ecotec Head (pics inside)

Well, just wanted to show everyone my finished head for my N/A eco project.
The head consists of:

Port and Polished eco head (exhaust and combustion chambers) By me
Milled a minimum amount for a fresh gasket surface
1mm oversize stainless steel valves
GMPP duel valve springs
Ti Retainers
3-angle valve job

The whole thing including parts, assembly, and machine work came out to around 1200$. this head should be fine up to 9000 rpms. I plan on testing that out.
Ill post some pictures however there is assembly lube all over the place so it may distort some of the surfaces.

Oh yeah, and a special thanks to Karo for all his advice and slick deals!!

LOL!

On a serious note, I hate how these heads are cast
The styrofoam consistency is the same reason I didn't knife edge anything in the ports.... I don't trust the casting.

Thanks for the support!

Aren't the eco's 3-angle from factory? I heard that once, just checking for validation.

i have no idea, when they cut the valve seats for the 1mm oversize valves they asked me if I wanted a 5 angle or a 3 angle..... I went with the 3.

Yeah, its all smooth... like 1000 grit smooth, its just the casting is so poor that the camera is going to play tricks. The material itself, even the color of the metal isnt even uniform. If you mean the holes that run horizontally between the ports, they are supposed to have a sharp edge.

looks good by the way.
i thought the tables in HPT stop at the factory redline? how do you tune above that? (im assuming youre using hpt)
I dont have hpt yet....still doing my research.

What were the gains on the flow bench? Or did you just go to town with a dremel assuming you were doing more good then harm?

Im going to be using Electromotive TEC3R Stand alone engine management.

I haven't flow benched it yet. During my build this summer im going to flow this vs. a stock head. I followed the directions given by Standard Abrasives. They seem to believe that you don't need a flow bench to realise a gain. I really didn't remove very much material. All I did was remove the casting marks and remove the sharp edges between the machined surface and the cast surface in the valve bowl and I did a light gasket match. Then I polished everything.
I still stand by what I said in my other post that you dont need a flow bench to port at home if your not trying to re-engineer the head.

To cut the valve seats (3angle), mill, and assembly of the valve train was 280$. I thought it was a pretty reasonable deal.

Nice work, I think you will be fine on the port as long as you didn't remove a lot of meat like you said, and just cleaned up production cast flaws, etc.

I dont know thim off hand, I would contact Karo @ Carcustoms. He will be able to hook you up with the best price on these items. It will beat the price on the Ferrea equivilent by quite a bit.

I agree, I think ill be fine. Im going to flow bench it anyway but not until the spring when the motor is going together.
