K&N or Mobil 1, I actually gain 5-10 psi in oil pressure when I use either filter over a Delco. Not dogging the delco at all either, it's a damn good filter for the money, as are Wix filters, and also Bosch oil filters.

This link rocks - http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html

I use K&N, and it seems to do the job well.

the frams are crap unless you get their tough gaurd ones, but then it comes out about the same price as the more expensive ones like wix and KnN.

the ones i seem t find the best are:

-Wix
-KnN
-Mobil 1
-Champ
-Delco
-Viper

there is another really good one i like too, but cant seem to remember the name of it for the life of me....

I will be honest. I use a walmart brand. I know walmart does not make their own oil or filters although I am not sure who does. I doubt it really matters since it never stays on the car for even 2500 miles and I use full synthetic.

i'd follow the oil filter study.

i dont believe there is actually a best, but more of "what gets the job done for said application".

if there was an actual best, then realistically we'd all use the same stuff and there wouldnt be as many replies with different answers....

I said Delco realizing not everyone wants to spend $10-$15 for an oil filter. Delco it is for a reasonably priced filter.

if you own a 2200, fram is best.....that super tough grip is teh only way i can get that damn filter off. whoever designed that engine should be shot.

otherwise delco seems to do pretty well

people dog fram because they use a cardboard filter or something like that

I beleive Pure-One has been proven to be (by them at least), to be the best filter when it comes to keeping your oil clean, as for keeping oil pressure up their I have no idea.

^^ +2 on the fram with the grip, but I only used it once, because I swapped heads and some water got in the oil and I didnt want to buy 2 KN filters.

To get the old ones off on my 2200 (K&N style) -- I used to use a sheet of 60 grit sand paper and wrap that on it and it would come off nicely. Now I have a set of gloves I can't remember where i got them, but theyre really grippy and I only use them on the oil filter. (this is jamming my arm behind the PS pump, doing it from the top.)

I use K&N, Never have the patience to go get a delco filter, autozone is like 12 ft from my apt.

Yeah, I have to use the Fram with the grip on my sister's '02 2200 because of the ECU, but if the ECU is removed it's not too hard to get at.
The other vehicles get Delco.

i dont why you guys have so many problems with changing the filter on the ohv... jack up the passenger side, lay behind the passenger tire, reach up and yank it out. but maybe that only works on the 5 speed... my 89 had that f'n sweet extension, put the filter (literally) in the wheel well.

As long as you change it on a regular basis, it doesn't really make a difference..

Personally, I get AC Delco filters from the dealer... but I get staff rate b/c my Mum works there So they're cheap.... but I use the longer application ones... ie. PF-59 for the 2.4L, instead of the PF-44.. (or 47 or whatever). PF-52 on the 3.8L instead of the PF-47..

I might have those numbers mixed up... but either way, it's a longer filter. I still change it every 3k miles.

Generally all are "good." But one thing you should look for is Microns and the lower number is the better, another is a "Anti-drainback valve." With that said FRAM's "Extra Guard" removes particles as small as 10 Microns, AC Delco's is at 25. I'm using Delco's for now because I bought like 7 for $1.00 each so i had to use them up. K&N is at 10 microns too. Moroso's filters at 20. Ford's Motorcraft is a 25.
ACdelco used to have the Gold series, but I have not seen that in quite a bit and they had it rated at 10 Microns. I am up to my last Delco filter and I am going with FRAM Extra "Guard" next. I <3 ACDelco because of the anti drain back, but i have to test the Fram.

I could pull that off with my 3-speed, but not so much with the 4-speed.

As long as the certs are on there, you can rest pretty much assured it's just as good as any other synthetic.

I use Pennzoil and Fram filters. I'm gonna try out the Fram Synthetic filters to see if they're worth the double-price tag of a regular filter (triple of a no-name brand filter).
