the guys(idiots i presume) that changed my oil @ the pontiac dealer always used the bigger filter.
and i never had a problem.
bigger is better... to a point... it definatly wont hurt and thing
in the past when i called the filter hotline, they have told me that the if there is physical room, the larger filter will work....

as for the Fram PH3506 and the Wix 51042, the cross reference to the Champ PH44.
the Napa Gold 1522 cross ref's to the PH59 Champ.
the Delco PF61 cross ref's to the Champ PH59, has an anti drain back.
if a filter is installed properly and has a good gasket, then it shouldnt go anywhere or spin off. its possible the gasket or threads were slightly different in length and the filter was bottoming out, not creating enough clamping force on the gasket of the filter to keep it on.
ive been using my larger filter for a while now and i do race it and haent had any problems as of yet.
