i'm in the process of trying to do a 2.2 coil swap on my 2.4. i have everything done up according to Misnblu's Ignition Writeup. i'm using all stock 2.2 parts including wires and i'm having problems with misfires. do i need to get different plugs or do i have to regap the stock ones? i narrowed it down to plugs or gapping because when i gapped the plugs down to .034" it was much better but still stumbled when i hammered on it from a stand still. it has no issues at higher rpms but misfires at low to mid rpm at WOT. any help is appreciated.
BTW its on a 2000 LD9 with the stock intake (for winter only), header and 2.25" exhaust.
Nothing? no one can help me out?
Hey! Could someone who's done this swap help this guy!? I don't want this swap to get a bad rep!
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
bad rep? i did it and i didnt have any problem at all...but i did mine the easy way...i got the msd adaptors...from what ive seen the most common problem is having the wires on the wrong cylinders...i dont know why hes messing with gapping, converting over to external coils does not merit a plug gap change
i know for a fact that the wires are right. how else would it idle properly? it runs fine except for when i mash the throttle. if i feather it up to 2500 then go WOTsmoothly go all the way to redline. the problem is getting misfires at low rpm when at WOT.
now thats much more specific...funny thing is when i had That problem it was a bad coil lol ... i hope that isnt what you have
could be bad coil... like i said in the first post im using all stock 2.2 parts not msd coils. i'm going 4 a cheaper fix because my 2.4 setup is acting up (different problem than the one at hand) and i want to be able to upgrade to the msd coils when i have the extra $.
