Im going to need HO Valve Springs for my motor build
Could someone supply me with the GM part number or the proper year car i could tell the dealer?
Do i need new retainers and keepers also?
Anyone know of another spring that can be used?
Thanks
go to rockauto.com and search chevy>1995>cavalier> 2.3 and then buy the springs and retainers retainer you will need quantity of 2 and springs you will need 16.

2 retainers? Wouldnt i need 16 of those also?
32 halves of a valve keeper, 16 valves, 16 springs, 16 retainers.
I believe for the 2.4 it is...
2.3 springs and retainers (retainers depend on inside spring diameter)
2.4 valves and keepers (keepers are dependent on the valve stem diameter)
Those who have actually done this could probably provide more insight on this than I can, though.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
I have new retainers and keepers, Rock auto springs aren't HO springs.
Your thinking of Keepers not Retainers
2 Keepers per Valve 1 Retainer
Could someone point me in the right direction to exactly what i need
get on quad4forums, PM ron siebenck. ask him if he has any HO springs. the real HO springs are gone. the "stock replacements" aern't very good and will float at high RPM(75-7800)
I have a set of new retainers, and rotators if needed.
you can use LS springs but you will have to have the seats cut in your head. or you will ahve to much seat pressure and wreck you cams/lifters/ valves and seats.
sen dme a PM if you need the retainers ETC. I have a set of stock LO's which are probably better than the stuff from rock auto, or elsewhere
my cattolog has them listed as diffrent part #'s

if you can get me the HO springs, PLEASE PM me with a price. I need a few sets
How are the Clevite ones?
I run Clevite they are just a copy of the GM by the way 2.3l spring pre 95 are all the same.
Run 2.3l pre 95 retainers and stock 2.4l keepers

I bought the Clevite springs from Napa but the short block and head are @ the machine shop now. I hope to have the new motor in the car by beginning of march.
However I researched spring specs from GM Vin T, Vin D, and Vin A manuals as well as various manufacturer specs. I was surprised to find some spring specs were actually no better than the 2.4 springs. The spring specs I posted above came from Clevite, they supply specs on request for all their products.
I special ordered mine @ Napa, took 3 days without problem. Napa's price was the cheapest I found.
Good luck on the build with whichever spring you decide on.
oh i see nm then. The Clevite springs from Napa will work good with W41 cams and rev to maybe 75-8k right?
