Question about the infamous throttle body switch, but I think this one is not the "will it fit/will it help" question.
Going to put the TB from 95 2.3 onto my 93 2.2. When I call places to find the part, they all ask if it is for a manual or auto (mine's a manual).
My question: does it make a difference? Could the TB from an auto trans go onto my manual? Thanks.
Well I don't know about the transmission but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work anyway because the older 2.2s have they're TBs as part of the intake mani. A 2.3 TB wouldn't fit just because of that (someone correct me if I'm wrong). The 2.3 TBs do fit on the newer 98+ 2.2. Maybe that's the swap you are thinking of?
Posted too soon...what you can do is have your stock TB bored and install a larger butterfly. This may be the only option for the pre-98 2.2. Maybe someone else has some input for you.
Yeah, boring is your only option, unless you can make your own intake manifold. If so, hook me up with one too! I think you can bore it out to 58-59 mm, which is plenty for a N/A car. 56mm is probably best.
