doesnt AEM make a couple diffrent ones? which do you mean?

ebay
intakes are all the same. just a pipe and a filter. the only difference between a $250 AEM intake and a $40 ebay intake is the name.

do what you want. buy a AEM for $250. or spend $40 for one that does the samething. or make one of your own
and K&N filters dont cost that much.

I don't know, I went the "cheap" route once and got burned. I waited patiently, found a K&N short ram for $100 and have been in love ever since.

kinda ashamed to say this, but Im having trouble finding one of those cheapy CAI's on ebay for an 03 cav... anyone know of any sites with the cheap pipes?

There is no difference in performance between CAI and WAI on our cars. There have been threads with actually testing done. I have the K&N Typhoon on my 03' cav. Got it for cheep off ebay. The only difference i see between the different set-ups is the elbow to the throttle body. Mine is just basically a 90degree bend strainght in.

dont buy an ebay intake..you arent just paying for a name..i have an aem on my car and wouldnt trade it for the world..fits perfect and everytihng..my buddy had an ebay intake..it was a piece of @!#$..fitment was terrible..the filter was horrible..the intake was made of cheap ass pipe..just do it the right way first and buy a aem, or k&n..

ditto. i did the 2.4 cavy intake mod first but didn't like the look of it. got a deal on the aem, which will be swapped out soon for something else.

ok guys, your giving me mixed signals here, is it worth getting a cheaper pipe with a good filter or should I spend the 200+ on the AEM?

Cheapo intake= sucks.
My cheapo tube is getting torn up from heat. its a POS.
Ecotec owners should go to www.cosmoracing.com they have a good Short Ram for like $110.

Big plans for the '04 Fire.

nope but the elbow hits the throttle body cover and rubs on the hood where the lining is.
