If you're looking to make hp, look on ebay or search your local junkyard for a 2.3HO.

why not simply rebuild the 2.3 you have?
Your cars NEEDS an HO motor. LOL
PRND321 Till I DIE
Old Motor: 160whp & 152ft/lbs, 1/4 Mile 15.4 @88.2
M45 + LD9 + 4T40-E, GO GO GO
because its easier just to swap it out. can anyone help me?

easier how? your gonna need to swap in the entire engine harness and VCM for an ld9 as well as more than a few other things.
can someone just give me a list of things i have to do. its a waste of time to rebuild that POS motor. I cant even do anything to that thing with out it messing up so why not swap to the 2.4 and have an easier time fixing it up

what makes you think its going to be ANY easier working on an ld9 over the 95 2.3? its basically the same engine.
what engine is it that your having trouble with...is it the 89' quad 4 or the 95'?
GMR has got nothing on this
its the 95. thats why i want to swap it out....who would want that motor anyways. its to unreliable

well is it a quad 4 or a twin cam? All I know is when you have a cavy or sunfire 95' you can swap out the LO quad and swap in the HO quad. I think like 2 or 3 guys have done it.

you sound like your feeling sorry for yourself or something.
too unreliable? the 95 2.3 and the 96-02 2.4 have more in common than you must realize. the 95 2.3 is no more unreliable than any year 2.4 ever built. although the fact it was only built for one year might weigh heavily on the truth that parts are damn near non-exsistant.
now, i feel you on wanting to swap out and go with a newer engine, but you need to face facts, its not much of an upgrade and for the work involved, i just don't feel it's worth it.
depending on exactly how much is wrong with your current engine, i'd be willing to bet that re-building it would be cheaper then trying to find a 2.4 and everything needed to do the swap.

Why everybody think you need the harness and all the crap to swp a 2.4 in place of a 2.3???? Same god damn engine. An Ecm control ANY kind of engine.
It's almost plug and play.
