If you don't know the answer then there's no need to rev higher.
There's no need the raise the rev limiter if you don't have supporting mods to make power in higher rpm anyway.
2300 RPM... i have no idea why GM even set it as high as they did.

Zany higher then 6250 will probably destroy the engine. Honestly, the engine is suffering at the stock rev limited. 6300 would probably cause valve float. If you upgraded the lifters, valve springs, pushrods, roller rockers, you might be able to get as far as 6500. Unless you get customs lifters, dont expect anything. Unless you get a cam regrind, there is no reason, the engine makes most power below 5500 rpm. Power starts to fall after 5000 rpm.

I'd say you might be able to hit 6500 before blowing it. The head REALLY wasn't built for high rpms.

thought maybe sice it was an l4 it could rev higher than my camaro apparently not.
is an american car so no need to go past 6k rpm lol, besides theres not much power past that. go buy a honda if you wanna rev past 6500 rpm .
^^^ yes there is. Not on a stock engine but it can be had.
Tell ya what, do a full build and bore your intake and exhaust valves out 2mm AND THEN rev it (I'd bet you could make power up to 8k if done right). It'd actually be pretty cool to see a 2.2l boosted running up to 8k.

I drove a buddies 02 4 door and i thought the tach broke because it got to 4500 and seemed to be stuck until I shifted and the rpms began to increase again.
