Wednesday, March 05, 2008 7:50 PM
Hey whats up guys I've tried looking on here for some info on the weapon R header but i have had no luck...i own an 04 sunfire eco. and i am going to buy either the Weapon R Street Header #953112104 for $245.00 from neverenoughauto or the Pacesetter armor coated for $236.89 from turbotechracing....Which one would you ecotec guys prefer...Any pros and cons on these two headers? Which one would be easier to isntall or would they both be the same. Also i can leave my catalytic converter with these two headers correct? Thanks....

I have had the pacsetter one for 2 years now...No problems what so ever..Ever through 2 winters...you can use the stock cat it comes with a adapter pipe..but you will need to weld the pipe to the cat..Also buy the Armor coated one ...only way to go..Also if you ae doing this mod buy a upper and lower motor mount first..this will help with stress on the header..Or get the shop to instal a flex pipe..but I would do the mounts ..And also go to gm and buy a new exhaust gasket the one thats in the kit sucks..And the factory one can be reused but hell for like 16 bucks its a cheap investment..And will save on exhaust leaks..Best of luck

i have the pacesetter armor coated one, no complaints here except the gasket blows and you should definitely use the compression springs they supply. a buddy of mine broke one of the bolts so we used steel threaded rods, they do the job but i get leaks when i accelerate. so make sure you use those bolts and compression springs supplied in the kit.

oh and you will need a flange to hold the downpipe to the ball joint. get a 3" flange , thats the one that fits if i remember correctly.

I bought the non-ceramic coat, stripped the paint on it, repainted it with ceramic coat, saved me around $90 doing it. The paint has lasted nice. Just more work to do this.
