Exhaust and Intake Flanges (Interest)
Thursday, March 20, 2008 6:53 PM
We would like to utilize our CNC machining center more, and would like to know if there is any interest in CNC machined flanges for the 2.4L and 2.2L ecotec (to start with)

Intake flange:

3/8" or 1/2" thick 6061 aluminum

Exhaust flange:

3/8" or 1/2" thick, 304 stainless or mild steel

ESTIMATED PRICES:

Intake:
3/8" thick 6061 aluminum $50
1/2" thick 6061 aluminum $60

Exhaust:
3/8" thick 304 stainless $80
1/2" thick 304 stainless $100

3/8" Mild Steel $50
1/2" Mild Steel $65

What would you be interested in, thoughts/suggestions?

I'm interested in a whole exhaust setup from you folks.

I personally feel the extra cost for 1/2" isn't justifiable over 3/8", but to each their own!

If you have an autocad print of what you want, we can make it happen, cutting 4 and shipping them to 1 location, we can get you a good price.

I would absolutely buy a 1/2" one for an LG0 if it was made. if someone sent me a flange, i could prolly draw it up on proEngineer here, don't know if that helps.

Either an AutoCad file (DWG or DXF extension)

OR

If it is a 3D cad system, save it as a "IGES" file extension

Either one we can import into the CNC NC coding software.

I'm interested. Would be nice as a starting point for the header I want made:

18" x 1-3/4" primaries made of 14-gauge steel w/anti-reversion cone inserts at the head flange
6" x 2-1/2" collector
4-2-1 (Tri-Y) design (I need it to produce a broad torque curve as it's going in my truck)
Ceramic Coating!
Stainless?

As you can see it's a big order so any start on it will be good. And believe me, that truck of mine needs it!

update:
i can save parts as an IGES file. i should be able to draw up flanges and send the files pretty easily. the flanges shouldn't be very difficult to draw up, just need to dimension one up and should just be one simple extrude. i'll try to get my hands on each of the manifolds within the next week or 2.

Would you be able to make up adapter flanges for installing HO and LO manifolds on 2.4's?

I've had an LO mani sitting around forever that I've been just waiting to find an adapter flange for but I don't want to pay $100 or more for one of the last remaining ones off of ebay.

Just a thought: How about making a spacer for the rocker cover of the LN2, in both the 2.2L & 2200 trim? I'm sure there's alotta guys here running aftermarket rockers on their LN2s that would love them.

That is great, water jet we could do that same price also, however, with a waterjet you have "kerf" which is similar to a "draft" meaning it is not a perfect port hole size.

CNC you get no draft and have a perfect smooth hole....

This is why it would be CNC...

I would say im in, but i disagree with the way your going about business. You need an auto cad design to sell a product? Somethings not right there. I can buy the GM one for $90 and not need anything other than cash.

Im not sure if you were talking to me, but I am a Mechanical Designer by trade, got a degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design! I have created many parts for the cavalier and sunfire scene! I made a k-member, rear tie bar, turbo manifold, custom exhaust, and charge piping! If you have any more interest, hit me up and I will see what I can design up for you!
