I'm piecing together an exhaust setup and I just recieved my pacesetter header and i'm wondering about that extra little pipe on the end....i'v read that in the 2000+ they don't use this any more....is this true....if soo how can i modify this to fit? Oh and i have a 2000 LD9 motor.
thanks, Chris

If your talkin about the piece that bolts to the header (downpipe). I have a 02 2.4 and I had a problem with the header install. The downpipe piece fit but would go thru the firewall. so, the muffler shop just made a custom pipe with more bend in it to go underneath the firewall.
na it's the little piece that comes off one of the pipes up by the engine ......i think it's called the egr valve??

Should be safe using your current year's gasket, the EGR tube just wont be used. IIRC there's just a block off plate on the block for it, and the gasket does the same on the exhaust side.

All the gaskets are the same... It is all in the "header" for the EGR port, you need to get one proper for your year.

just use a 00+ exhaust gasket. That is exactly what I did with mine, and the guy I sold it to did the same thing. The 96-99 have an opening for the gas to flow through the head to the EGR valve. The gasket on the 00-02 engines does not have this opening. The correct gasket for your car will block off the EGR passage.
