Upgraded spark plug springs, waste of money?
Saturday, March 29, 2008 9:47 AM
Anyone bought any of these things? I got a set off of ebay (greg b or jersey devil i think) a while back and they are copper colored, not silver like all the pictures. I tried to measure the difference in resistance between them and the stockers with an ohm meter and didn't see any difference. Was this a waste of money?

most likely, the real difference i would assume is not in the resistance, but in its ability to carry current.

I switched my booty springs and coil springs.... with some from greg b... the springs I got were silver like his pictures.... I never thought of measuring the resistance though... Rksport who makes their spark plug inserts out of the same metal claims they are 80% less resistant then oem

At a given voltage, the current is proportional to the impedance. Voltage = Amperage x Resistance.

Unless your running boost or nitrous, I suspect that the benefits are negligible. I bought them anyway though.

btw, if you are going to buy them, nice plugs and the upgraded coil springs would form kind of a package.

I got rid of my setup like that years ago.
But Greg B is a great seller and can be trusted in what he sells.
Heck, he's been around for a long time so he's doing good to help out the J-body community wth this.
Good luck with it.

I've had the RK ones for probably five years now. Didnt really notice any difference performance wise. But when we measured the resistance there was a definite difference.
