Venturi intake?

All right, I'm probably gonna get flamed just for bringing up intake, but I have a question that I haven't seem posed before on any site.

Real simple: will including a venturi chamber behind the filter on an intake offer any increase in performance? I plan on bending my own intake from 2.5" or 2.75" tube. Also, would it give more performance increase on a short or long ram?

venturis do give a increase in flow yes, but the gains you will see from doing this to the intake system might be minimal. ive dyno tested some of are small engines that we use to race go karts (5hp blueprinted briggs on methanol) and i only found a .3 - .5 hp increase but in are rules is not legal for us to use . if your going do this use it in a short ram, and if you want to get nit picky also do it to the throttle body to get the most gains from it.

Ok, thanks for that info. I'm not that worried about gains that small, so I'll probably just save myself the trouble and run a standard short ram then.
