question about header...
Sunday, March 30, 2008 9:13 AM
hey guys,

i know everyone hates these posts but i need help.
i have been in the market for the rksport 4-2-1 header, but with plans to go turbo i just cant justify the $$$, i am looking for some other 4-2-1 designed headers that arnt @!#$. but are at a better price point. i can not remember the name of the header for the life of me. it was somthing like the "bill n ted" header or somthing. for some reason i just cant remember, anyway, any thoughts on this header? any knowlege of where i can find some more information on it?

thanks in advance guys!

Tsudo is a cheap 4-2-1 eco header. By what i have read it is hit or miss with the quality. I plan on running it on my 03' till i get boosted.

It's called Bill and Stans. I have one on my and I love it! The ball and socket part that goes from the 4 to the 2 part has a leak, but I haven't had time to figure out why. Good luck finding one that is for sale used. I haven't seen one for sale since I bought mine from a guy on here. And I doubt you want to buy one for 700 bucks.

Ive had both the rk 4-2-1, and have the bill and stans(isuzuperformance) header now lol. The rk sounded good and looked cool, but was the biggest pita to install and for some reason I ran slower with it at the track even in the same conditions as they were previously. Ive had the stans header in for a while now, its a good header and very easy to put in but good luck finding one cheap. New they are around $700 I believe. If I find a dc header Ill get rid of my stans header for very cheap, but if you dont want to spend more than around $200 on a header just go with a pacesetter ceramic or obx.

so ah, does that mean you want to get rid of the rksport cheap?

Me??? My rk is long gone, I have the stans header now. If I decide to get a dc header Ill let my stans go for like $100. My plans were turbo which I had everything, but going a different route now lol.

Its a pile of crap. Leaks at the 2-1 joints, the flex pipe burnt out a long time ago. Wish I had never sold my OBX header when i went turbo. Turbo is gone now so I have to make the Stans work. Refuse to run a stock manifold with my new cams.

Im mainly gona keep my stans because I have a 2.5" downpipe for it, and id like my exhaust to be full 2.5" from downpipe back. Im gona try to get a dc header, I think the downpipe on that is small though like 2" someone may have said...idk. Ill let you know if I get rid of the stans header. I shoulda just put in my turbo manifold then I wouldnt have this issue hahaha.

How about a custom 4-1 setup? thats what im running and its my second largest purchase (after the GM CNC head) It replaces my Pacesetter 4-1 ceramic coated header. Headers make a HUGE differance just thought i throw my 2 cents at ya

if you want a cheap throw-away header go with a tsudo off of ebay or an OBX

the ebay special headers:
the tsudo 4-2-1 is a BITCH to install but once its on its fine until you need to ever remove it.
OBX is a lot easier to deal with. get the cobalt OBX so you have slightly larger primaries

but the best header is one custom made, the route ben is going without a doubt

Since we're on the subject, has anyone seen a good 4-2-1 (Tri-Y as it's known amongst the traditionalists) for the 2.2L/2200-powered S-10?

Go beyond the "bolt-on".
