mounts?
Monday, April 28, 2008 6:17 AM
my car is a 2002 2200 equipped 5spd without ac and im wondering which engine mounts to get? basicly the car is stock and i want to do the exhaust and header so i want the motor to be a little stiffer and not be breaking flanges and stuff. some people say there cars vibrate with just the upper or just the lower and some say they dont so i dont know which to get. its not a race car and never will be but i want it to at least be fun to drive and not vibrate like a piece of crap..

its mostly the automatics tat complain about vibrations since or idle is so low. were the manual idles around 800-900 rpm, the auto idles at around 600-650 rpm. the lower idle on the auto cause the vibration. mine doesnt do that anymore though idle speed was raised 125 rpm so its sitting around 700-750 rpm at idle.

mine has the RK upper insert and the RK lower mount. purchased them from TTR, it was the best price i could find. http://www.turbotechracing.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=394&idproduct=4598

i have a 2.4 auto with the TTR upper mount and rk sport lower mount and the vibrations are no where near an issue, i mean sure it does shake more then stock but its really not that big of a deal (to me anyways). the only noticeable annoyance i dont like is how the steering wheel vibrates when idling, but its not really that bad.

if i were you i'd go with full TTR, upper and the new aluminum lower mount.

Rollin' on question marks since 07.

thanks guys. how was the install of the upper inserts? and if i change the upper do i have to change the lower? i cant really justify spending alot on motor mounts after just ordering my magnalow catback this morning...lol. only $728 locally.lol. on magnaflows site the list is way over that.

the mounts (the RK ones) are $40 + shipping. thats dirt cheap and cheaper than RK Sport even sells them for.. the upper isnt that bad to install. there are good instructions here :

the upper instructions are better than the lower ones, but its pretty straight forward for the lower one. the more lube you use the better, so get some hand/dish soap out when you do this or if you can come tire lube will help out great. the hardest part about the upper is getting it into position.
